Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag gameplay revealed

This is a little concerning to me. We know, for a fact, that the game is coming to current and next-gen consoles. So with that in mind, on what platform were they showcasing this video? Some of the scenes in the video looked mind-blowingly good and there were a couple of scenes showcasing very complex lighting effects.

It would be bad form on UBISOFT's part if they showcased a game with next-gen visuals and led people to believe that this is what the current gen versions will look like. It reminds me of the olden days where you'd look at the screenshots of the game on the back of the box, and ending up with something that doesn't even remotely look as good as it advertised itself to be.

A brilliant example of this was Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries for DOS/Windows 95. I remember checking the back of the game's box and there were these pictures of mechs shooting their green lasers in "3D Mode" (or "enhanced imaging mode" for the fans out there) with brilliant 3D textures and lighting. That "enhanced imaging" mode was never even an option in the game. They merely took screenshots of the animated series that was running on TV at the time. False advertising at its best.

I believe that if you are showcasing gameplay footage of a game that is available on next-gen and current-gen consoles, you should label the scenes to indicate what version it is that you are currently looking at. It's only fair to the buyer to make an informed decision.
