Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

I also have this problem, but there are a few game franchises I always play through to completion - got a soft spot for AC :3

You and You alone guy; I spent a large portion of AC3 waxing poetic about the legend of Connor's predecessors.

No no. That was the cute face - not saying I have a soft spot for Assassin's Creed 3. I found that one boring and skipped it. Got Quinton to tell me the plot so I didn't miss anything.

Meanwhile, Zero Punctuation review was surprisingly positive:

Lol, my bad on misreading the smiley :p. AC4 is actually surprisingly good. Played it on PS3 at AWX intent in just demoing...ended up playing for an hour straight and calling btGames for a PC preorder xD. It seems that Ubisoft can learn from their mistakes

Anybody keen for an unboxing of the AC IV buccaneers edition tomorrow? Curious if I should take some photos.

Am I the only one who actually enjoyed AC3? I really, really didn't like Altair or Ezio's stories were becoming very stale and I thought AC3 was exactly the breath of fresh air the series needed. The ending was tosh but the rest of the game was alright.

Anyway, I've started playing AC4 today. I really like it and I absolutely love the protagonist. He's not as sanctimonious as any of the previous characters. He's a dick simply because he can be.

My only complaint is that it runs a but sluggish on the PS3 when there's a lot going on on-screen. Anyone else notice similar difficulties? I think I should drop the game until I get a chance to buy it on PC later on.

Yes. Yes, you are :p

I do agree they dragged Ezio out way too long.

ACIV looks and runs like a dream on Xbox, although I am seriously contemplating trading it and getting the PC version tomorrow.

AC3 was good, it wasn't great but it was fun. My problem with it was that the rushed through Connors story so I never felt like I knew him. Maybe if the game was longer or we spent less time on Hathams story it would have been better but to me it felt like we got to finally seeing Connor as a man and then it ended. Then again the game also brought out plenty of features but it was a case of introducing them like hunting and then finding the skill irrelevant. AC 3 should have been a longer game but the way they released it had it feeling incomplete to me. Still the combat was great and I loved the close/ throw combination in fighting which for me flowed better. Hoping AC IV sorts out 3's issues and keeps the good stuff.

No you're not. :) I love ACIII, one of my favourite games in the series. Finished it twice on PS3 (including all the DLC) and I am currently doing my first playthrough on PC.

I finished ACIV on PS3, but I didn't notice any issues whatsoever, except for a bug with one of the assassination missions.

I am seriously considering trading in some games and getting the PC version today as well. I am currently busy with ACIII on PC and I wanted to play IV only after finishing it, but now that it's out I want it now!

I think I'm going to pick this up for PC today as well. Wanna play some of the single player before jumping onto the multiplayer, but we should have a MyGaming stealth-em-up

I have decided to trade in a few games and get the PC version after all, I cannot resist it. Should have it in the next hour or so.

Seeing as I'm getting Rivals today, I may be a bit tight. May have to wait for the re-release. Although a MyG stabathon sounds tempting.

Yeah, I was planning on waiting for the re-release as well at first, then I decided to get on payday next week and now that the game is out I cannot resist it any longer, even though I have already finished it on PS3, I want the PC version as well. It also helps that I have so many games I don't play, I quickly found a few I can trade in for the exact amount that ACIV costs.

Cool thing about being cross platform gamers - trade in the expensive Xbox/PS3 copies of a game and be able to pick up the same game for PC for R99. Thats what I did when I got AC on Xbox, traded Far Cry 3 and some other stuff and bought FC3 on PC for R99 two weeks later. Think I only ended up paying R140 for ACIV. But now I'm seriously reaching the end of the line for games I want to trade.

i dont like trading games, cause along the line you crave to play some old titles again and then they're gone

Yeah, I feel the same way mostly but luckily most of the games I traded today I still have on other platforms. :D The only game I traded that I don't have anymore (and will miss) is NBA2K14, but it really pissed me off last night and I plan to get the next-gen version eventually anyway so it's not that big of a deal. If I crave NBA before that, I can just play 2K13 on PC.
