Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag reviews are in, and they're looking decent.

Has anyone bought the game and played through it yet?

What are your thoughts and opinions on AC4? :)

It's quite hard to buy the game when the console release is only on friday here in SA. I'm waiting for the PC version on the 22nd

Console release was yesterday. I've played about 2 hours so far, check the what are you playing now thread for my thoughts so far.

Caved and bought the Xbox version. Traded 3 finished games in and got it for R165.
I'll be settling in with it tonight, just quickly played the opening section.

I saw a few of the video reviews and it looks like the PS4 version is very pretty. Therefor I'll skip the PS3 one and go straight for PC as I will not be getting a PS4 till late next year. I am watching the YouTube Tel's Play clips and it is looking like a great game so you can't go wrong in getting it.

It's got a average score of 80% so far, so something must have been done correctly. Maybe I will pick it up later, but I could never get into AC1 or 2 or any of them it became monotonous to got to X kill Y return to Z.

Watched a PS3/PS4 comparison, couldn't see a huge a difference, PS4 loaded quicker and had no texture pop, also the PS4 had sharper visuals as most things in the distance on the PS3 where blurred.

Then I got the wrong date in one of my emails. O well, no spoilers please

OK - played about three hours last night and this one actually feels like Assassins Creed. I probably wasted about 2 hours just running around in Havana instead of getting on with the story.

Anyway, the game looks amazing and has probably the best music score I've come across recently. The main character is awesome and not a sulky pain in the ass to listen to (looking at you Connor....). And there is a metric crap ton of things to do. If you know AC, I should haven't to go into details there.

One thing I do feel they could have put a bit more into is the shanties. When I first saw the music note on my mini map, I was really, really hoping it would be the same sort of mechanic used in Sleeping Dogs, where you actually have to learn the songs themselves.

I've very keen on this game. I'm tempted to buy the digital deluxe version on GMG which is $10 cheaper than on Steam.

Do it! I have the game on pre-order at BT Games because nothing beats a physical box :P Urgh, three more weeks.

There is certainly a temptation with the physical box, but I'm also enticed by the various content packs, and you can nab pretty much everything with the digital deluxe version.

Feel like a bit of a scumbag for supporting that marketing tactic though... still, it's working!

It is annoying that they block off certain content based on where you pre-order the game from. That Aveline DLC looks quite interesting, probably the only one that's worth it. I was going to say that at least they aren't as bad as Bioware, where they blocked off a character essential to the plot, but I guess they're doing the same thing with the Aveline content.

What happened to the days where when you bought a game new, you got all the content?

The Aveline content is cool, but you're really not missing much. It's very short, think it took me about 20 minutes to finish.

Obviously I'm assing around in Havana too much, only got my Jackdaw last night.
Cranking up the surround sound during the theft/escape section is just awesome.

Haha, I didn't really stay in Havana long myself, but now that I have the Jackdaw and can sail where I want, I haven't touched a (story) missions in hours. Just sailing around plundering ships looking for Islands with treasure. Man, this game is awesome.
