Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

You guys reckon its imperative to play the previous titles to enjoy this one to its fullest?

I'm currently still on brotherhood (haven't played it in awhile), so still need to get through Revelations and AC3.

Not for this one, you kinda learn about Templars vs Assassins at the same time as Kenway does so it's not necessary to go through the series. Saying that I prefer to keep them in order but it's not needed for this one.

Caution: the abstergo hacking does have spoilers for AC3

Good news everyone, I've made it to the top 100 deadliest assassins in the game, regional I think they said. Not sure if regional is SA or Africa but I think it's cool. I think I'm just outside 100 for ships sunk also.

Hi everyone, I've been fairly quiet - mainly because I'm having so much fun being a pirate!

I must explore the social aspects a bit more, I've largely been ignoring them.

Ike: I've noticed i'm being labelled as the deadliest assassin. No idea how it's measuring this, I'll try figure it out later tonight. I think the Uplay social thing is a bit borked though.

Has everyone added everyone else on Uplay? Maybe we'll get some multiplayer going soon :)

If you go to the abstergo database in the options main menu then the option at the bottom should be for the leaderboard. If you go there then it has 3 ratings, the first is fearsome pirate for ships sunk, 2nd is prosperous pirate for money earned and 3rd is deadliest assassin for people killed. You can sort it from global, regional and friends.

I do know in the trading fleet you can help your friends if they are on route but I've only ever seen 3 ships to speed up so I'm not sure there and sometimes your map will show friends discoveries like royal convoys and white whales.

I've helped out Wlad a few times, and he's helped on almost every one of my trading fleets. So it does come up. But I've not seen anyone else's ships yet.

I'm loving the android app integration, just sent out my fleet to do some trading while at the office then I can reap the rewards tonight when I get home. :)

Been using the app on my iPad - very cool and actually quite useful. I've been using it to help me navigate.

I unlocked these 2 beauties last night, I'm pretty sure the spanish navy tell horror stories about me now.

I'm trying to unlock the sails you get when reaching level 3 in AC Initiates, but I keep forgetting to log into the site to sync my progress.

Spoiler alert

Nearly forgot, today is the one year anniversary of the day Desmond Miles died. Go out and kill a templar in his memory

You may want to put that spoiler in white text, Ike. AC3 is still a newish game and there are many people that haven't played it yet.

I find that TB's assessment of this game is very critical, as everything he is complaining about is what makes this such an amazing experience for me. But this may be because I've not played any of the AC games despite the very first one.

He is over critical, I mean he is moaning that the game doesn't support 120khz, that's like 0.1% of users. Also while some of the missions are easy if you just hack and slash your way though but you won't get 100% sync. Personally I feel some of his critics petty, he made a comment on dressing as Altair and not drawing attention even though he was dressed middle eastern, the costume was Animus cosmetic adjustment, it was an overlay. The idea is that you sync with the memories of an ancestor so you see and do what they would have done at the time, therefore Kenway never wore the Altair costume so he wouldn't have raised suspicion, it was an Animus trick.

The problem is that he has built a show around being negative so he has to find issues, nobody would watch it if he was being nice.
