Assassin's Creed Revelations review roundup

So doesn't really look like a game of the year contender.
Guess it is between Portal 2 and Skyrim.

Not sure if i'm ready to give this AC a shot. As i was sorely disappointed with the repetition of the first AC. and that put me off the franchise. Am i missing out???

You don't know what you're missing with AC2 dudes. It fixes absolutely everything that was wrong with the first.

Listen to this man.

2 was a massive step up from the original. Brothood and Revelation have just built on what 2 did.

AC2 was a huge improvement over AC1. I barely managed to finish AC1 it just got so repetitive and boring. AC2 was streaks ahead of AC1, and then came Brotherhood, which IMO is taking what they learned from AC2, and just perfecting it.

If you can get passed the notion that Assassin's Creed is boring based on AC1, then do yourself a favor and try AC2 it will not disappoint.

More on topic :D I am super amped for AC:Revelations!

Yeah, you really can't base the later games on 1. 1 was a little repetitive although I still loved it! One of my all time favs.

2 was a huge step up and Brotherhood and I assume Revelations is more of a continuation of that.

Makes me happy. I don't think it would be AC if they wen't and completely changed it.

I concur. Yes it may seem like copypasta work, but look at it this way. They found something that worked in AC2 and stuck with it. Then take into consideration that they have released a game every year thus far so developing something that innovates is a little difficult (And please if you want to talk innovation please don't compare games with 3+ year development cycles, it's kinda like comparing apples with pears).

In any case if one looks at the whole series I have not seen it go below the 80% average whatsoever so that already says that a reasonably well built engine and a strong story line, vast expanses of new territories to explore every time and a pretty awesome soundtrack makes for a good game.

They also added an interesting edge to MP. It hasn't taken off as well as they would have loved it to but still, it was something different from the usual run-and-gun side of things (or sit-and-camp for a lot of others :P).

Plus for those thinking of waiting till AC3, don't get your hopes up. 1 year for development does not leave a lot of space for large innovations without huge compromises. Nevertheless maybe they have been secretly setting a team aside to develop AC3 for the past 3 years and they may shock us with a really awesome new engine without compromising in other aspects next year :3

But still, developing a game in a year that still manages an 80% average twice in a row shows that Ubisoft knows what they are doing (pain in the ass DRM aside though, but this time round they listened to the PC player base)

Just my fanboy rant for the day :3

I dig the multiplayer aspect of AC:Brotherhood. And there are some cool new features coming to the already winning formula of Assassin's Creed like bomb crafting. Hell yes!

Hell yes!!! I read an article that said there is either 150 or 1500 different combinations :3 Plus from what I saw at rAge was already pretty nifty :3

I've been looking forward to this game so much I played AC2 from the start and going to do Brotherhood as well before I pop this bad boy in.
At the moment I'm just finishing off Bonfire of the Vanities.
So far the only bad thing I've heard about revelations is that the Den Defence sucks a bit and the Desmond mini games are also not so cool.
Still, I don't care, I love AC man, Constantinople looks amazing and the story is still going strong.
