Assassins Creed Unity, the reviews are out

It's such a shame really, I am a huge AC fan and was really looking forward to this. I will definitely still get it, but for now I'll get Dragon Age: Inquisition and then I will get Rogue first and play that while waiting for Unity to get a price drop.
 
This is what happens when you milk a franchise into the ground. At some point the udder dries up.

Agreed. I wasn't too excited about it though, but it did look interesting. And it's no surprise to anyone here that knows me, I'm not a fan of the franchise. But it kinda stopped being Assassins Creed and started becoming Assassins Repetition.
 
The results are certainly interesting, and totally unexpected - enough for us to double-check that the day one patch is installed (it is) and to try the game on another PlayStation 4 (the results are much the same). Barring a few glitches here and there, overall image quality looks like a match between both PS4 and Xbox One. A 900p resolution is confirmed, while anti-aliasing, NPC count and other factors that may impact performance appear to be a complete match. We're especially curious to check out the PC version of the game (not in our hands yet) which may offer some more clues about Unity's overall performance profile.

It looks like Watch_Dogs all over again, this has removed my thoughts on The Division being Ubisofts saving factor, but thats okay Just Cause 3 is coming out next year.

You mean Ubisoft turned it into Assassins Greed.

In all fairness, I only really played Black Flag, which is excellent.
 
I'm not going to get into a debate about them "milking the franchise" or it "being too repetitive", neither of which I agree with, but it's not like it's the worst game ever, it is still getting decent reviews after all. Sure, there might be some issues with performance at the moment, but I'm sure Ubisoft will be able to patch most of it.

Rogue is also getting much better reviews and some people have even said that it is the best AC game yet. I for one still think there is a lot of life left in the franchise. Even with all the issues Unity has at the moment I know I will enjoy getting to explore a pretty accurate rendition of Paris during the French Revolution. I will probably end up buying both Rogue and Unity towards the end of the year.

I think the Ass Creed franchise still has potential and I was hoping that this game would be great (it certainly looked good from the early gameplay demos) but I think this shows that Ubisoft are going the route of EA and are consistently releasing games that have serious issues at launch. Following the hoo-ha surrounding Watchdogs' launch, this is unacceptable. Ubisoft don't have the excuse that this game is released for multiple console generations either.

I don't doubt it's going to be enjoyable and fun, just like the previous ones. I don't claim to not have had fun with them. Though I wasn't one that followed the story of the Creed franchise and just played the games. This is probably why my opinion is the way it is about them. But they are exactly that, my opinions.

It's just a little surprising, because a lot of the build up and game-play demos and cinematics that were shown up to release day looked so promising. Everything looked new and fresh, great mechanics and ideas were promised. But at the end of the day it looks to be a lot of the same. Just a little disappointing. But then again, we can't really take reviewers that seriously any more, so I will probably play it at some stage to to ease my curiosity about it and to see what has changed. But I'm definitely in no rush to buy it.
 
I had a bad feeling about this game when the developer started sprouting parity crap from his mouth ,every platform deserves to be utilized to the full.Who would of thought Ubi would fall so hard so fast.
Hopefully buy next year the games performance issues will be fixed.
 
I was anticipating this from the start, after Black Flag it seemed like a step back. Personally I was really hoping it was a step forward and I was just not seeing the angle correctly.

This is also what happens when you cap a game to 30FFPS in 2014.
Franchise died for me @ AC3 (maybe AC 4 is better). 2 is still the best, afaIc.

Then you'll love Black Flag. I picked it up off G2A after watching a PewDiePie video. Got the Gold Edition and Season Pass for about R200.
