Assassin's Creed Victory to be revealed tonight

Looking mighty good so far, grappling hook looks awesome. Thank the gods the hidden blade is back! The hand-to-hand combat looks great as well. I'm sold.

Human Shields? I miss the meat shield defence.

Reveal was... okay? I dunno, right now it kinda just looks like a re-skinned Unity. No real graphics upgrade (although footage was pre-alpha) and most of the animations seem to have been taken directly from Unity, although the few new additions look good. No confirmation on whether Evie will be playable at all as was leaked yesterday, but I'm still hopeful on that front. Anyhow, London looks great. The addition of vehicles will be interesting I guess. But my hype meter is pretty much in check at this stage.

Looks better than Unity. At least they're trying something new, and I have an interest in the setting.

The combat looks janky though, I think they still need to work on that. I don't need another power fantasy, I want it to be challenging.

Fucking PC, always getting screwed.

If getting another visual bump means that the game will run at 15 frames a second this time, I don't want it. Hopefully they've optimised the engine and the game won't run terribly like Unity.

I wonder what they main studio is working on though. They aren't doing this, so I guess we'll find out at E3.

Haven't seen any yet, but what they've shown of the combat definitely impresses. The protagonist (not sure about the name yet) has a Kukri, hidden blade and a revolver (probably more) which all flow together nicely with the hand-to-hand combat from the looks of it.

They're probably working on 2016's entry, or 2017's entry etc :p

Agree about the combat, not looking solid at this stage.

Am I really the only one that likes the look of the combat? Give me the same combat we had in the earlier games like AC2, AC3 and Black Flag and I'll be happy. If I want a challenge I'll go play Bloodborne. I want a power trip from AC; I want to feel like a badass killing dozens of people in quick succession.

I know a lot of people complain that the combat in the earlier AC games is too easy and it's supposed to be a stealth focused game, but I don't care. I want that combat. Not the godawful combat from Unity.

Well, I don't know what I expected, the game looks good, but it doesn't really seem like there is any huge innovation going on. I understand that it gets harder once a franchise is established, but I just remember reading a preview for AC1 and being blown away by the idea of being able to climb everything.
I wish they could do something to bring back that feeling and get me interested in the series again, the games really were fun.

Combat is the one thing I wish they would change, it just doesn't feel that good by today's standards (just look at the Batman games or Shadow of Mordor for good examples). I am liking the aesthetic and time period, but after Unity I will approach this one with extreme caution... :(

I too am a fan of the combat in games such as Batman, Shadow of Mordor, Sleeping Dogs etc. but I quite enjoyed the older AC games' combat as well. A combat system like Shadow of Mordor will actually be awesome for Syndicate come to think of it. Either way, as long as it's not as bad as it was in Unity. Unity had the worst combat of all AC games IMO. But the return of hand-to-hand combat as well as the hidden blade is already a huge step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned.

I'm also really happy they decided to ditch the MP and focus on the SP experience. Hopefully this will mean a more polished product at launch.

EDIT: Here's the (awesome, as always) trailer if anyone hasn't seen it yet:
