Asus AMD R9 Fury X Rolling Review

I'll leave it for the end of the review, I already know what the 980ti is capable of :)

Lol cool thanks bud! I have always been an AMD/ATI fan and I really hope they start making a come back sheesh... Also is it possible to do a review on the new crossfire, pairing an old card with a new and how it all works and performs?

I'll see what I can do with the new/old cf pairing.
I'm busy sourcing an Asus 980Ti to compare to the Fury X, I'll finish the Fury x benches then add the 980Ti benches for comparison.

Hitman Absolution Benchmark

Hitman: Absolution is a stealth video game developed by IO Interactive and published by Square Enix.[1] It is the fifth installment in the Hitman game series, and runs on IO Interactive 's proprietary Glacier 2 game engine. Before release, the developers stated that Absolution would be easier to play and more accessible, while still retaining hardcore aspects of the franchise.[2] The game was released on 20 November 2012 (which is in the 47th week of the year in reference to the protagonist, Agent 47) for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.[3] On 15 May 2014 Hitman: Absolution — Elite Edition was released for OS X by Feral Interactive;[4] it contained all previously released downloadable content, including Hitman: Sniper Challenge, a "making of" documentary, and a 72-page artbook.[4]

Hitman: Absolution was met with a polarized reception. Most positive comments were concerning the game's graphics, environments and locations, and the varied gameplay options. However, many critics disliked the game for not "feeling" like a Hitman game. As of March 2013, the game has sold over 3.6 million copies.

so what are ur opinions of the new card from AMD?

Still working on the review but from what I've done and from using the card as my main card the last few weeks I am really impressed.
I think the main talking point for me is how cool and quiet the card is, even under heavy load and overclocking. The performance is a given at this price point so not really all the surprised by that. I would however say I've had to tweak settings quite a bit to get the best performance out of it, whereas with my Titan X I literally played pretty much anything maxed out, obviously the Titan X is a lot more expensive so not really a fair comparison and as I haven't gotten hold of a 980Ti I can't say for sure.

I will say that a ref 980Ti will almost def match the Fury X in performance but a 3d party cards like the ASUS GTX980Ti Strix will be faster than the Fury X, no doubt about that. It is however still early days and I know for a fact (Friend that works for a certain company) that AMD are working their asses off on the drivers for the Fury/x cards so I am pretty sure the performance will get better as newer drivers become available.

Would I recommend a Fury X.

Yeah I would. It's a premium product, it oozes quality!! Even just holding the card in your hand you can instantly tell that a lot of thought. money and time went into the design of this card and it shows.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Benchmark

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Polish: Wiedźmin 3: Dziki Gon) is an action role-playing video game set in an open world environment, developed by Polish video game developer CD Projekt RED.[4] Announced in February 2013, it was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on 19 May 2015.[5] The game is the third in the series, preceded by The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, which are based on the series of fantasy novels of the same title by the Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, but all take place after them.

Played in a third-person perspective, players control protagonist Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher who sets out on a long journey through the large land of Northern Kingdoms. Players do battle against the world's many dangers using swords and magic, while interacting with non-player characters and completing side quests and main missions all to progress through the story. Players mostly travel by foot, and also on horseback on Geralt's horse 'Roach'.

Upon its release the game was met with wide acclaim from critics, with many reviewers and publications calling it one of the best western RPGs ever made.

Some thoughts...

I have to say overclocking with this card is incredibly frustrating, clocks seem completely stable and then boom, black screen needing a full restart.
It also seems to scale differently every time...I'm not sure if this is driver related or card related but it's really very annoying.

When people look at these results they need to keep in mind that these runs were done at near max settings and as such the cards performance is actually really very good.
Dropping a couple of settings will obviously get you close to or over the magic 60fps barrier so keep that in mind.

As it stands though, the cards performance can only go up from this point forward, I really hope AMD's driver department work their asses off to bring us performance increases and better drivers over the next couple of months.

I really hope this is the turning point for AMD. I miss the days of reading headlines about who will be king of the hill next!

Really thanks again for doin this review Joker!

Hope u gonna do the new crossfire tests soon. I honestly cannot wait to see how that turns out
