ATi HD 4890 is power hungry

That's unreal. I don't even think a 700W PSU will do the job to run that as well as the rest of your PC effectively.
 
Hell's Bells. No wonder earth is going to hell in a hand-basket, these power consumption increases on PC's are doing their bit! Especially over the last 3-4 years.
 
Don't most new graphics cards also have that feature where it lowers its clock speed when not doing intense graphics? So then it uses more power than what it used to at higher clock speeds and less power than the older cards in normal Windows.

So in a way it should balance out. I might be wrong though.
 
What are you guys bitching about a Nividia 295GTX requires a 850watt psu!!

Mmmm yeah good question that!!
Who really gives a damn if the card is power hungry, its cheap compared to what's on offer from nvidia ad so what if you have to up your psu!!
