ATI HD 5870 availability at rAge

Do you think you could run the HD5870 next to the lets say Nvidia 8800GTS??? Would they be able to support each other or not???
 
the 5870 was so damn quiet running in crossfire ... pure silent killer i tell you ... nvidia's mars card was making a racket tho :/
 
I'm still trying to decide which budget card (+-R1200-1500) to get ... 4870 worth it at this stage? If so, which chipset?

I don't have the setup for a high end card like the 5870 at all.

I would say definitely. The 4870 is a great card, and second hand ones should start popping up more and more soon.

No way in hell am I _EVER_ buying 2nd hand hardware.

Right now I'm using a 8600GT. It's making my pc blue screen ever so often after stuttering for a few seconds - and my games have discrete but permanent lines across them at the moment.

The last time a gfx card of mine started doing that was my 5600GT. I was too poor to afford another card, so I climbed into it with a soldering iron. To the disbelief of my I.T. house mates, I managed to fix the card, which one of my mates is still using to this day (if you don't mind the big-ass capacitor surface mounted on the wrong side of the card :o) - 4 years down the line :D

Right - so you reckon 4870 is good? Which chipset should I be looking for?
 
Did he get the 4870 or the 4850? Theres about R200-300 difference between the two.
