Bare minimum to run BF3 smoothly

Hi guys

I'm about to assemble a new PC to play BF.

I would like to know what would be the bare minimum setup to make BF3 run smoothly? I don't mind running it at low setting but it should just run smoothly for the most part.

What CPU, GPU and RAM would I need?

I was thinking an AMD X3 450 paired with a 6670, and 4GB of RAM. Would that setup be enough?

I'd rather get an i3 Processor and with that card I wouldn't go higher than 768p.

Check the below references out for what you can expect.

Thanks for that Isengard. Just one question, Running smoothyl would be how many frame-per-second? 30 or 60?

60 i think,my PC usually runs it at over 100fps so the only time i have gone below 60 is with HD Recording software and it's a bit noticeable.

30 is fine and should be smooth enough without lagging. 60 fps is smooth as silk and just gives a better feel to your mouse control. I average around 40 and it's more than acceptable for me, I never feel like I'm at some kind of disadvantage...

What type of recording software do you use? I so want to record some of my SC2 replays with commentary (want to try my hand at casting), but never sure which software works the best without taking too much resources?

I use Bandicam for recording and CyberLink PowerDirector for editing.

PowerDirector quality:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4Vl...text=C29d5fUDOEgsToPDskLMgdtF2qsx0ZjmoOHMIxlr

Bandicam Quality:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3VX...text=C263b5UDOEgsToPDskL2zYfiG93m3yOBTpV4J7pr

Watch both at the highest settings.

Unfortunately Bandicam is very resource hungry when it's recording at HD (1GB for 20min).this can be compressed though without compromising the quality.

Compressed using what?

I was thinking about this and figured you could run a I3 2100 and a 5870 and you should easily play the game on high settings @ 1920x1080.

ok to list my specs and it runs on ultra low (1280x1024 resolution) but smoothly at 30fps, drops to around 20-25fps when it gets real busy on 64player servers:

core2duo 2.4ghz (not overclocked)
4gb ram (had 2gb when i first started up the game and i couldnt even play 16player maps without major lag when i upped it to 4gb worked perfectly)
GTS250 512mb (yea i got the rubbish 512mb card:()

so not that great and cant wait for an upgrade to see the game with its full potential,

I have issues when running fraps.

My framerate goes from like 120fps down to 15fps. Playing at 1920x1080. Spec in sig. Anyone know why it would do this?

"Bare minimum" to run "smoothly" is a contradiction. You can't have both of those :) It depends on what framerate you are personally willing to accept and for how long. If you get framedrops at a bad time, will you be able to accept it and continue?
