Batman: Arkham Knight suffers from severe AMD optimisation issues

So Nvidia is starting a monopoly on the gaming industry now, basically forcing gamers to go "green" to be able to enjoy games more thoroughly. So i guess my R9 280 just falls into the minimum category now. guess i won't be enjoying the game in all it's glory.

And then BT games lets me know this morning that there is an issue with the release of the game on PC. What a good start to the week.

Still busy with the download on my side. Wish I could afford fibre. 4mb is not cutting it anymore.

Performance seems to be all over the place as with MKX.

Hopefully when I can (want to) afford it, this issue will be mostly resolved. For now, I'll pass. <sigh>

I moved from NVidia to AMD for a graphics card upgrade, now I need to move back to the green team?
Not going to happen ANY time soon. Look at my wallet. :p

strange, as they've said both consoles are AMD powered so it would be expected that the gpu requirements would be less than what would be needed if you ran an Nvidia Card, this is just ridiculous

More than likely the PC version is not a straight port, which would explain some of these discrepancies. Possibly a lot of nVidia optimization went into the PC version.

I suspect both AMD and nVidia will probably have issues at launch. Was the same with Arkham City. Had to wait a couple of days for patches from both Rocksteady and nVidia before I could even play the game. Even at low settings, my game stuttered to the point that it was unplayable.

The AMD issues don't really affect me since I always buy nVidia, but I do find it suspect that they can get it to work properly on the XBox One (which IMO is basically a mini PC with an AMD card running Windows), but they can't get it to work on PC. With the current generation of consoles, I think porting should be easier than before, not harder.

Which leads me to suspect that this is a parallel build and not a straight up port

lol nice one mate. :D

Well I cancelled my order but received my promo code.
So I'll give my verdict later in the week.

That said I just came across this:

Update: Rocksteady has addressed performance complaints in a statement on their forum:

"We're aware that some users are reporting performance issues with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. This is something that Rocksteady takes very seriously. We are working closely with our external PC development partner to make sure these issues get resolved as quickly as possible."

Rocksteady advises players to keep an eye on the forum thread for more details as they're available to share.

Yeah, I think we can all agree Rocksteady generally don't have a bad attitude when it comes to the way they handle things. So yes, maybe the launch didn't go as planned, but I doubt they're the hand-rubbin "ooh we have your money now anyway so what" corrupt bastards people seem to magically assume. Gotta give them a chance to try fix it at least :)
