Batman set to face off against Superman

UPDATE: Director Zack Snyder officially announced that Batman will indeed appear in his follow-up to "Man of Steel." He said in a statement, "I'm so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can't wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter. Let’s face it, it's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world."

At the panel a logo for the movie was revealed that combines Superman's "S" shield (yes, we know it's not an "S") with the Bat-symbol, which notably looked different than the one in Christopher Nolan's trilogy. They also used a quote from Frank Miller's groundbreaking graphic novel "The Dark Knight Returns" where Batman and Superman engage in a fight to the finish. In it, Batman says, "I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you." Apparently, the new movie won't be a straight adaptation of that comic book but will use elements of the Batman/Superman rivalry from the text. In addition to Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will return, but Batman has yet to be cast.

Hmm i still have to watch the new man of steel, but the last few Batman vids have been pretty ok. Will have to see.

Uh oh. Way are my spider-senses (aka here-comes-a-bomb detectors) tingling?
Maybe it's just bad memories from the Alien vs Predator movies, but I am worried.
 
This sounds like a horrible idea to me.
Aren't both supposed to be good? Why would they want to fight each other in the first place?

Both are good, but with different view points on how to go about it. And they've had quite a few altercations in the comics.
 
just because they appear in the same movie does not mean they have to fight... cant we all just get along?
 
If they really want to do that then I want the sequel to be:

Right... I never read comics. But I would never put them in the same movie to begin with. Each has their own universe and there is more than enough scope for each franchise to still make a couple of movies on their own without the need of messing around in each other's house.

There was so much BS to get a Superman movie made in the first place due to conflicts between the producers, directors and whoever else is involved which is why it took so long to get the 2006 Superman Returns movie. Now they want to bring in Batman and everyone is like: "Yeah, ok". I'm just glad that they didn't decide to revive their 1998 choice and try to recast Nicholas Cage as Superman.

My outlook for the rest of the Superman franchise has now changed from cautiously optimistic to cautiously pessimistic.

you should its actually a good read , but also if you too lazy to you could always give the animated Movie a watch

they have always been Friends and have criss crossed a lot in the comics and a few of the DC animated movies (these Movies never get half the credit they deserve , the Red hood stoy OMG way better than anything Nolan did )
Hence the reaction in the Clip cause yea it's an awesome Idea .
