Wow, leave this thread alone for two days and wham. The Rock as GL? Bane, Joker? Well, if all of this is true, the movie is either going to be EPIC, or a total washout. I'm hoping for the first option. Mygaming movie night in 2015. Sign up here
I'm still gonna be a bit sceptic about their choice of actors until I actually see the movie. But if Man of Steel was anything to go by, it think it might just turn out great.

So essentially, if the rumor regarding Lantern holds true, they would be bringing in John Stewart instead of Hal Jordan (basically retconning the Green Lantern they've already given us). I must admit, if they do bring in a Green Lantern, I wouldn't object to seeing Nathan Fillion as Hal Hordan, but then again John Stewart is also a strong character.

That is him now. He is a freaking HOUSE!! But I don't think he would play John Stewart, more Simon Baz due to his ethnicity. Then again, the internet is screaming for John Stewart.

In movie business you don't really need the face for a role, just the acting skill and your facial expressions can still work, I mean look at Charlize as Monster

It just really depends what they do with the movie. If it's a light, regular superhero movie, then it probably doesn't matter too much which actor they choose. But if it's more of a darker, introspective movie then I think they'd need to choose actors with very good acting skills.

Yup, he would be the perfect bet, but I still believe that John Stewart is too low in the popularity contest with the general public.

Problem is, what is the total of Lantern fans? 200K? They would have to satisfy the normal movie goers first I would say. Or stay true and satisfy their biggest supporters, their true supporters.

Heh. It is less than that...much less, if you go by current sales. Of course they would satisfy genpop first - which would make Hal Jordan the obvious choice, while ignoring much more interesting Lanterns in the process...Gardner, Stewart, Rayner...dammit.

Idris Elba as John Stewart would be fantastic; perhaps the best part about the movie...and thus it can never be allowed to happen.
They cannot have GL (Especially a lesser known one such as John Stewart) eclipsing Superman or Batman in terms of screen presence. [Which inevitably happens if you put Idris in a room as a powerful character[
