UK-based developer Bulkhead Interactive has confirmed that its upcoming World War II multiplayer shooter Battalion 1944 reached its £100,000 Kickstarter funding target in less than three days after being announced.

“Thank you for backing Battalion 1944,” said Bulkhead Interactive producer Joe Brammer in a statement. “The team you're investing in are ready to build the next big first person shooter. We couldn't have done it without you, the community.”

The Bulkhead Interactive team has also promised to invest a minimum extra of £100,000 of their own money into Battalion 1944, and all funding received past the initial Kickstarter goal will be put towards soon-to-be-announced stretch goals.

Battalion 1944 promises an online multiplayer experience akin to the early Call of Duty and Medal of Honor titles, stripping out “unbalanced unlocks” and “over-powered abilities” and focusing on fair, skill-based infantry combat. Authentic locations will include Carentan, Bastogne, and Sainte-Mère-Église. It’s being developed for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Bulkhead Interactive previously worked on Pneuma: Breath of Life, the first Unreal Engine 4 title on consoles.

Project note says the devs will be "travelling to the Game Developers Conference next week to meet with friends, colleagues, and potential partners across the industry." Presumably to attempt to secure more funding and investors. They do promise to retain "100% creative control over the project" regardless of what investor interest they secure.
