Battle.net Mobile Authenticator now available in South Africa

I did try the Blackberry one last year on my old Bold 9000 with Vodacom and it couldn't connect to Blizzard ever. Using it on my iPhone and it works perfectly.

Just a question, what do you do if your phone gets stolen? Im just wondering since its happened to me before (stolen phone).

I have been lucky Ive never been hacked and got a friend in the UK to send me one of the small original authenticators. Works like a dream.

I've installed it on my Blackberry, but it's having trouble connecting to Battle.net. Is yours working fine?
I managed to attach it to my Blizzard account successfully. Other than that I can't login to WoW to test it further. I can try playing SC2 sometime once i get my desktop PC back in a few days time.

Here is the oh so helpful email from Blizzard when i asked for a 7 day trial or two to fixup the damage and replace the trial that the hackers activated.
Hello

Thank you for your email.

I am afraid that once a Trial has been activated on an account it is not possible to do the same again.

All of the items that have been returned to your characters will remain in your mailbox for 90 days when sent by a GM and should you not be able to logon before this time is up then they can be resent by a GM if you make a ticket.

Unfortunately, as the access to your account was something that is, at the end of the day, the responsibility of the account owner we are unable to give time compensation for anything that may have been done.

I really do wish we could assist more with this matter but there is nothing else that we can do beyond restoring the items to you.

Should you require any further help, please make a ticket to a Game Master using the Ticket System and we will try and help.

Best wishes.

edit: Actually the mail items look like they are good for 360 days, but that is not the point. I want to sort out my mail items without having to re-sub. If they bothered to look at my account activity all i did for a couple of hours this week was go thru my mail items and move them to my toons' bags.

i am quite surprised there is a hacking problem, is this because there is money involved with wow, cause really to do this in sc2 is quite pathetic.

It's just to do with WoW AFAIK. Though the amount of gold i had in my WoW account is really small fry compared to some people I would imagine.

For the life of me I can't get it to connect to Battle.net on my device to set it up. I keep getting a network error.

Bah! still no support for the X-peria's :( I have been waiting for support for my phone for so long, can't wait for my contract upgrade to get rid of this phone anyways...

I run a VERY clean PC. I'm a well above average technical person with years of experience in security and software development so I know by now how to run a secure and high performance PC. My account still got hacked because of a Flash browser plugin exploit early 2010 that allowed a keylogger to run in Flash on many popular and trusted WoW websites from the comments sections. There was literally nothing I could do from my side other than not have the plugin installed. Sure, your server box isn't going to have any frills like Flash installed at all, but most desktops need Flash installed to browse the web.

In short, the authenticator is worth it because sometimes its just out of your hands with WoW being as targeted as it is.

Didnt know they could go through the flash plugin :( I guess nowhere on internet is safe these days

I went to the Blackerry App store on my laptop's browser. First it had me connect my BB9700 and then had me update to the latest BBerry Apps version on my phone. Then once that was done, the battle.net authenticator could be installed on my phone. Somewhere along the line i went to http://www.battle.net/bma on my phone and on my laptop's browser i added the authenticator to my account, using the authenticator's ID and sequence number thingy.

Does this help u at all?

I just recently removed my authenticator (got it for my iPhone last year). It peeved me so much with Starcraft 2, I couldn't care less about my wow account to be honest. All that time wasted....
