You can get it from mobile.blizzard.com on MTN, Cell C and Vodacom and on quite a large number of phones. It's going to cost you $0.99 though and you'll need PayPal. Alas, it's not free like the iPod Touch and iPhone versions are.

What does it do?
Heres what Blizzard says it is :p
Battle.net said:
The Battle.net Mobile Authenticator is an optional tool that offers Battle.net account users an additional layer of security to help prevent unauthorized account access. This includes World of Warcraft players who log in to the game using a Battle.net account. The Authenticator application itself is a small program that you install and access on your cell phone or mobile device.

You'll notice the link in the first sentence ;)

Anyway, basically it's a number generator that gets linked to your World of Warcraft account. When you want to log in to the game, you need to enter in the number that will (in this case) be generated on your cellphone screen. It basically acts as a second password and protects you from hackers and the like.

I've been hacked only once in WoW but since I've gotten the Mobile Authenticator app I feel way more secure. It's definitely a must have for account security and hassle free game play.

Thanks for this. I've also been hacked once before and it took Blizz about 2 weeks to get me my account and everything I had back :/

It works similarly to the one time authentication codes banks use. It makes your account as unhackable as possible since the would be hacker would require your phone to log into your account. My account got hacked some time ago with the whole Flash vulnerability fiasco so I've been using it since then.

Edit: I've been using the free iPhone 3Gs app.

Sweet! Shot for the heads up.
Pleasure :) I just installed it via AppWorld and added it now to my battle.net account using www.battle.net/bma. Was a bit of a process, but its done now.

Can't test unless Blizzard gives me a trial to clean up the mess that the hackers made in my account. I have tonnes of items in my toons mailboxes and was busy doing a cleanup when my game time expired. I emailed the game master that replied to my last email so will see what they say. Am certainly not going to re-sub just so that I can organise my inventory!

I got one also on my Samsung Galaxy S for free from android market, but before I had one I got hacked and still not sure how when I never had any keyloggers or used any emails I didn't recognise.

The hackers activated my 7 days trial for patch 4.1.0. once they got into my account.

I run a VERY clean PC. I'm a well above average technical person with years of experience in security and software development so I know by now how to run a secure and high performance PC. My account still got hacked because of a Flash browser plugin exploit early 2010 that allowed a keylogger to run in Flash on many popular and trusted WoW websites from the comments sections. There was literally nothing I could do from my side other than not have the plugin installed. Sure, your server box isn't going to have any frills like Flash installed at all, but most desktops need Flash installed to browse the web.

In short, the authenticator is worth it because sometimes its just out of your hands with WoW being as targeted as it is.

Scary thing is, if a keylogger is installed on your PC, then WoW really is the last of one's worries. Really don't like the idea of these guys potentially sitting with the password to my GMail account! On the banking side i have an authenticator so that at least is safe.

I've installed it on my Blackberry, but it's having trouble connecting to Battle.net. Is yours working fine?

In 6 years i have never been hacked.. but i recently got an iPhone 4 and i decided to get the authenticator anyway, just an extra precaution. Also you get a corehound pet ingame so definitely worth it just for that :D!

When I played WoW I had the authenticator on my phone and I never got hacked once. That being said, I also had a very strong password.
