Battlefield 1 gets a massive price increase on Origin SA

Well that takes care of that decision for me. Thanks for helping me make up my mind EA/Origin. Shady as fuck way to go about it though.

Any suggestions on what to do with the R599 I'd set aside?

I enjoyed the beta and I think it got quite positive feedback, so I'm guessing they noticed and hiked the prices. Its not just S.A. complaining
It appears the initial prices were all $20 lower on the packages below from the US stores than it is now:

OriginUS $60 = R852 (R1000 on OriginZa)
OriginUS $80 = R1136 (R1100 on OriginZa)
OriginUS $130 = R1846 (R1900 on OriginZa)

They're probably trying to recover costs for all the f*ups they've been making and sadly people will still buy it.
I'll be voting with my wallet. No!

...but at 60% of R1k it's down to R600, which is what the original price was. So you're waiting for a "big discount" to pay the price you should've.

Yup well this is gonna be one of the first battlefield games I am not buying on launch, which is sad cause it also seems to be my favorite since Bad Company 2, but that's just based off a couple round of the beta.
 
Damn console people are gonna have a field day with us master race folk. Can't bring up the cheap games argument anymore.
I rate this was planned by the console gods.

Thank for the clarity. Now it at last makes sense. I'll just tag it as another half @ss news article ;)

UPDATE: Players from other countries using VPN to buy from the south african store at a cheaper price are too blame for the Price increase now it seems

I don't understand why they don't confirm your location based on your credit cards billing address. This price hike has made it go from me knowing around 10 people getting the game to 0.
