Battlefield 3 Beta:Your thoughts

Playing it on PS3 and so far so good.
Squads works fine.
Graphics is not terrible for a beta, and netcode is great.

Will try PC on the weekend.

Could the members with computers that do not meet the recommended settings give some feedback on the frames they are getting?

Loving so far, only problems i had was some graphic glitches and the fact that you have the launch it thru your browser. (Since Firefox uses 200k resources..) Really impressed with the Origin in-game thing sofar and the graphics, hit detection and sounds are incredable.
The loading screens are also very impressive since the map only take like 5-10 secs to load!

Framerate is also good, running on 40-60FPS with textures on high and all the rest to maximum (1080p)

To the above comment, my specs are:

MSI radeon 6870 1gb DDR5
Intel core i5 2300
4 Gigs DDR3 ram
Asus P8P67 M-Pro

we area entitled to our own opinions here!
Im quite surprised about the graphics debate, from the minute i joined a game i noticed a massive graphics improvement from BC2!
Im running in 1080p on medium and the graphics are "wooing" me, the sound too is fantastic! it sure works my HD6870 but im very much happy with the beta, that being said there were def people struggling last night theres no doubt, i still dont even have my beta key for my MOH purchase would you believe but seriously we are all entitled to our opinions, i mean for me Crysis2 didn't impress me at all but thats just how i felt.....

Loving it so far, feels very much like a compromise between BF2 and BC2. Still has some bugs, but is a great "feeling" game. Sure to be the next big hit.

Performance is slick on HIGH setting - 100+ FPS.
Crossfire 6870s with preview driver and CAP4 profiles.
i5 2500k @ stock
4GB Corsair Dominators
Asus P8P67 EVO

After a long and witty 3.9GB download, and extensive server browsing and hoping that my rig would support the game, much to my dismay...it didn't work :/ looks like a hardware upgrade is due

So I finally got a chance to play a couple of matches and here's what I noted.

1. The game looks great, but I'm not sure it's the best looking PC game out there.
2. It runs quite well on my modest PC, at 1080p with a mix of high and medium settings I average around 30 - 50fps
3. The game plays fantastically, this WILL be my new online shooter of choice for some time
4. There are bugs, I get this weird flickering of the screen every now and then, prone in the right place and you can see through the ground and my aim through sights button stopped working at one point (this is a beta so these things are expected)

All in all this is meeting my expectations. Hopefully the Caspian Border map will be unlocked for play so we can experience the vehicles and 64 player matches. :)

For the person who asked for those of us who don't really have the machine to run this game here is my experience.

Sound: Awesome But need some work on a 5.1 system sometimes the sounds will come from the wrong dirrection.
Graphics: Medium settings very improved over bc2, Would not mind seeing this game on high and ultra.

Game:There seems to be a few places where you can shoot trough rocks. Since my machine can't really handle the game I get loads of screen tearing or where there will be no character far away and as he runs closer before I get to see them.

Love the glint that comes off sniper rifles and give their location away :D

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6550 2.33GHz
4GB DDR2 800 ram
EVGA 9800gtx+ 512m

1920x1080 settings on low haven't tested high settings but runs fine.
384 line speed. you can feel it needs more but its not much more, hit reg is fine

Lots of graphical glitches, i remember similar things happening when crysis 1 first came out.

Its definatly playable no need to rush an upgrade. just yet i will soon anyway but its not a must to play.

I like the create party / squad mechanics in battlelog, they just need to fix it so it works properly but it will be great when it's done properly. Also the points for surpressing fire at the enemy, all contributes towards teamwork. That glint that gives away snipers position is just invaluable, you can see these fuckers hiding in the bushes and take them out.

So far so good, having fun with it, theres a fair amount to fix up before release but think it will be great when it's been completed.

Played about 30-60 minutes, not too impressed, lots of camping, spawn raping ect. will give it another shot after Rage weekend.

Plenty of bugs to sort as well which should make the game run better. got bit irritated with the almost falling through the floor when proning.

Certain this will be a epic game however, but the 30-60 min i played, didnt impress me too much.

Had a quick go at the xbox version last night. I was a little sauced and had the volume very low because it was the middle of the night and didn't want to wake the wife up, so I'll have to give it another go before I can have a proper opinion on it, but here's my thoughts so far.

It's a little glitchy, and it looks like the textures have been scaled down, probably to keep the download size small, but that's to be expected in a beta release. I think if they iron out the little issues, it's going to be an awesome game. It's definitely a different feel to rush in BC2, and nice to have some indoor action. I would have liked to see some conquest on the big maps, and some vehicles as well though.

They've made some nice new features, like prone, suppression, choosing if you want to be revived or respawn, etc, and the character movement and hit detection are much better. I must say, it's way easier to kill people than in bc2, but also easier to die.

All in all, I think that it'll take some adjustment from bc2, but it's going to be an awesome game.

I think the thing to bear in mind is that the purpose of a beta is so that they can have a dry run and find and kill any issues, and see how the servers handle actual people playing in a live environment, it's not really to let us try the game out. Considering the closed beta is only 48 hours before the open beta, that's not so much of a reward, but I think it's rather a way to start the beta testing with a smaller load, so they can fix problems before everyone else gets on, then when the open beta starts, they get to test with a heavy load.
