Battlefield 3 kills PCs at Gamescom

That's not driver related issues. That's shitty coding.
And saying they aren't building it with any system requirements in mind also means that they don't give a crap about gamers that can't afford high end rigs. but in the same breath they say it'll be able to run on medium and low end systems..lol..Do they even think before they speak?

I'm guessing though that they had the settings at Gamescom at absolute max, and those machines were probably being played on non-stop from open to close. Still two months to go though, so hopefully they'll get all the glitches and bugs worked out before then.

its ok, my XT machine, is quite cabable, otherwise I will port it to my i386 with Voodoo 1 screen card...

Also looks like they spent a lot of time on the planes, hellies, tanks, and other vehicles.

Well, they have nearly 2 months for code and graphic optimisation. Here's to hoping my PC will still be up to scratch. :)

How can a game "Fry" a PC unless they pump maximum graphics and stick the PC in a box in a corner without proper cooling...

Yes very strange, since all graphics cards and CPU's have fail-safes built in to freeze the system if the temperature gets too high, maybe they had those high end machines overclocked with very standard cooling.

But if that were the case, then the machines would not of lasted a few hours and still would not of "melted", very strange.

I smell an Activision employee.

i'll take this with a pinch of salt

no offence, but your word is just as good as the dude that says otherwise....i really dont think you can outright say "shitty coding"

It is after all an alpha build, keep that in mind.

1st off mate, Games do not kill hardware...Especially in the large numbers they are talking about here.
So they either let the rigs over heat or the rigs were built like a pigs ass.
Yeah shitty coding is correct as you stated its only a alpha build. Also they say that it'll run on low and medium spec rigs but then they pull a stunt like this, saying how it killed 12-14 high end rigs..lol..

Looking into it more, this looks to be just a ploy, because I already know the bf fanboy's are thinking..wow the graphics are so intense they kill high end rigs.

I'll leave my judgement for the final product..as im still really excited to see how this runs on either of my rigs.

I Agree 100% !

once the specs are relesed, i think there will be a pleasant surprise for many....

the beta build requirements will give us a better understanding......

so what did the code fire tiny little missiles to off the hardware lol? Or did the game itself freeze up because of hardware / software compatibily? Come on, get the facts straight

Maybe it's because it's a Monday morning and I don't want to be at work and, honestly, haven't allowed myself to wake up properly yet. But, since when is it "good publicity" to say that your game breaks high-end PCs?

Wow - I can't wait to buy this game to "fry" my $$$$$ PC at home. < ---- yeah, I don't think so.

If this is a publicity stunt by fanboys, it's probably the WORST one ever.

Mate...seriously..Think of the hype created by this crap?
Spent all morning debating this on here, and what about the other millions of gamers reading this when they wake up, instantly call their friends, log onto forums, blog about it.
Like I said I will reserve my judgement for the final product and not pay any attention to crap like this.

Joker is quite right, no amount of bad or poorly optimised code can "break" a PC. Poor ventilation or construction is the obvious culprit. The game just obviously helped it reach the necessary temperatures.
