Battlefield 3 PC benchmarks arrive

Recommended graphics cards only manage 30 frames per second on max settings

Hmmmmm... The bench's for the 6850 look kinda pitiful .-. But then again my max resolution is only 1440x900 on my 19" screens, so that will reduce the strain by about 5 fps :p. Sigh seems like I'll have to embrace the street corners to get that new mobo and GFX card XD.

Where are the pc specs they used?
I checked the original source and its not mentioned there, unless I am blind.
The only reason the gpu scores are so low is the sheer scale of the maps and the level of detail, also this was run on the beta version of the game, which clearly needs more work...Also the motion blur is completely stuffed, these benchies are in actual fact quite useless xD

Also this really made me laugh

Battlefield 3 Beta: Test scene
Our test is simple: We're starting at the city, running down the bank near the water for 20 seconds (logged by Fraps). This scene on the Metro map sports a wide view distance, particle effects and, as a result of the sprint, streaming. Indoors the frame rates are about 30 to 50 percent higher. Since we're using the latest drivers from AMD and Nvidia, the Catalyst 11.10 Preview and Geforce 285.38, these results are state-of-the-art.

No they are not. When the game launches and you bench it properly, then its state of the art.

I'll run proper benches when the game launches.
Will have them up in the hardware section on the forum if anyone is interested.
Also a little weird...I run 6870 in cf and 2 x 6970 in cf and i get way higher fps than they are showing....

If you look below the bench's the specs are mentioned. And as you say. It is weird that you are getting higher FPS. We shall just have to wait till after release to see what the actual results are. And if you could run some benches it would be appreciated. But either way, this game is going to have to wait about a month or 2 before I get it so by then I'll have made my mind up about the final upgrade ^_^

Yip as I thought I am blind xD
Thanx for pointing that out.

Yeah I will def be running benches on it, also I see they are only running 4Gig's of ram...Lame.

Anyway these benches are way off, I know what I am running and I know what my mates run and they also get way higher fps.
I call BS on those benchmarks.

BS i get 60fps with my 6870s cf on ultra!!

My case in point, Thanx dude.
Im gonna run benches and I am gonna email these tards and ask them how they fucked up the benches to get such low fps.

Seeing as they post random bs benchies. I submit my findings to the thread xD

Quite simple I'd say - marketing sham by the Nvidia and AMD perhaps?

Everyone not in the know goes: "Oh snap. Need better gpu. Upgrade time".

Unlikely, but very possible.

Ok question. Have you guys tried using only a single GFX card? Seems like they were running without CrossFire and SLI. Cos I know that CF and SLI give pretty large performance boosts so that could explain why your results seem to be double-ish their results.

I must agree with joker, i have one 6870 and on medium setting everything its between 55 and 90 fps...

HSBAO seems to hurt it tho

Hmmm yes but remember they were running it at maxed out settings. Seems like for those that want to play at max setting (which I doubt I'll be doing) you'll need a CF or SLI setup unless proven wrong. At least BF didn't go all out Crysis where no machine can run the thing decently at max settings at release :-P

I presume on making that statement all your other variables are the same... And you are running at the same resolution? Doing the same benchmark run through as they described?

I am not accepting that these benches are perfect, but make sure that your comparison is AvA.

Mate..seriously...
All the serious gamers that have serious rigs can see that those benches are completely screwed up.
6990 55.4 fps ? WTF!! LOL!!
Its crap I know it is.

Well we'll just have to see what other gamers report. But still my question is what happens when you take CF and SLI out of question whether you get the same results as it must be noted that these tests were probably done with single cards. But either way, more tests and feedback from the community is needed. The more feedback we can get from people with varying setups the better we can really guage the true impact BF3 has on a rig

2nd set of benchmarks are sli and crossfire.

Those figures are miles off.

GTX 560 + Core i5 760 getting 50 FPS on High sometimes hit 70 fps :O (HSBAO off) 1600x900.

Those benchmarks are waaaaaaaay off.

According to these benchmarks and which were the first to be out, a single 580 averages at 50fps with everything on its highest settings. So 60-65fps should be for 6850 CF.

Hmmmm cool thanks. Seems like I'll have to get that 2nd 6850 then :D. In the meantime I'm sure I can survive using some custom settings to keep the game running smoothly XD

Oh and I missed the 2nd set of results posted in the link in the article

*facepalms*

And as you said they are way off. I guess it differs from rig to rig :-P
