Battlefield 3 will feature in-game advertising

well as long as it's subtle and ties in with the game with billboards that would have been part of a design process anyway.
If it's anything like those banner ads you get on your phones with free apps it will be terrible.

And as long as those billboards are part of the destructible environment. :p

I remember in BF2142, specifically the expansion pack, Northern Strike, Intel had billboards which advertised quad core CPUs? Didn't bug me then, won't bug me now. In fact, the mere fact that I can remember it, means it clearly worked!

Totally, Prototype also had heavy billboard advertising, didn't bug me at all.
All we don't want are slo mo scenes of BF3 soldiers sipping a Pepsi or when they get into a vehicle, comment on the interior trim and the level of comfort.
 
Yup...this has happened many times before. Think of Metal Gear Solid 4: iPod, Playboy, Triumph Motorcycles, etc.
And getting your ads into something that a lot of gamers will buy is actually good marketing...unless it clashes with your gameplay via distractions or in the worst case scenario, glitches.
 
I dont know why but for some reason advertising in games really bugs me, you shouldnt have to play a game and then advertise your product while other people play it. But it'll be interesting to see how this turns out.
 
Don't think it'll bug anyone while there'll be so much chaos happening around the player.

Will be funny if you snipe someone standing still to read a billboard :D
 
Advertising is everywhere these days- it also pays for the game development. Doesn't bother me- I just want a quality game and if thats what it takes- so be it.

But seriously, looking at all the videos floating on the net, ads will be the last thing you'll notice while playing.

And if you notice them you can most likely destroy them so u don't have to look at it again..:) assuming it's something on a wall or billboard of course..:)

I remember all the cries of "Oh NOZ!!1 Ads are in mah gamezors, stealinz mah billboardz!!!"

I can't even remember it working within the first 4 months or so that I played. You say they actually had ads after a while? Interesting.

There'll probably be billboards on the the side of the streets, but while watching one of the vids I noticed smaller ones in the street which look like they'll be used for ads.
