The latest patch for Battlefield 3 is currently with Microsoft and Sony, as EA DICE await certification before they can push it live onto the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.
The news came from EA DICE's community manager Daniel Matros, who was addressing a question from a fan. Matros said "It is [the latest patch] being tested at cert by MS and Sony yes."
The certification process typically takes around a week, but it's unknown when the patch was put to Microsoft and Sony for testing. Worst case scenario, this means it should go live at some point next week.
No notes have been given out for the upcoming patch, but it's rumoured to deny players the ability to deploy mortars when they spawn. It's also believed to make some of the ribbons easier to obtain.
In other news, Battlefield 3's latest expansion, Back to Karkand, was patched on the PlayStation 3. If you've already downloaded the expansion, it's advised that you uninstall it and re-download the amended version. The next three expansions (Close Quarters, Armoured Kill and End Game) are due to release at key points in each of the upcoming seasons.
