Battlefield 4 and 8ta cannot play on SA servers but europe is playable?

I found an interesting problem yesterday :

For some reason i am not detecting ping on any of the south-african servers and thus cannot join any of them at all as the game gets stuck trying to connect : slightly frustrated at myself i decided to try some of the europian servers and to my surprise i could play on british or german servers with little to no lag whatsoever. Not even sure how this makes sense lol.. At least it's playabl lol.. can someone explain this to me maybe?
 
I have a similar problem on 8ta, only half the SA servers have pings next to them. It's definately an 8ta problem as when I ran tests with MTN, Cell C and Vodacom I have no problems, all the SA servers generated ping values and I was able to join them without a problem. I have found on 8ta my connection is hit and miss, just another example of incompetence of Telkom and it's support structures. I had similar issues on Battlefield 3 but the connections were much more stable leading me to think a small part of the problem lies with BF4 as well.
