Battlefield: Bad Company 2 patch Q & A

So I bought the game about a week ago. I'm not very far into the single player campaign and have yet to download a single patch. Is there any benefit to patching the game for single player mode or should I wait until I want to play multiplayer before patching it?

The last thing I want to do is spend a few hours downloading patches for nothing. I've tried googling patch notes and looked around on the myGaming forums but it's not clear if the patches are going to do more harm than good in my situation.

Thanks Tsar, will patch it then I guess the odd bit of jerkiness i noticed was not imaginary or due to background apps then! Am running a quad core 2.66ghz, 2GB RAM with HD 4890 at more or less full detail, 1920x1080 res with [edit]1xMSAA[/edit].

Get the patch, you wont be sorry, you should be able to run the game without any jerkiness.

When are you planning on venturing out into the big bad world of BC2 multiplayer?

@Sockmonkey: As soon as I've finished the single player campaign which is taking me forever because I am hardly home or when i am at home some evenings then i am just vegging surfing the net or watching series after a long day at work! Also have been procrastinating on playing and patching the game because i knew i would have to set aside several hours while the patches download.

PAtching the game now; 2 hours spent so far on a 384k line and the Updater looks to be about 90% complete. Was hoping to have a 4mbit upgrade by yesterday but Telkom says there are no more ports for me to upgrade at present. Don't know if that's a legit excuse or what; am still waiting to hear from someone there who actually knows what they are talking about!

[update2]Hmm... i had to start the SP campaign again after patching because my saved game kept crashing. Not sure how far into the game i am now but have been playing for about 3 hours total. [/update2]
