Battlefield - Tanks

Xero

Official Zombie Slayer
As most of you know by now I am partial to playing in a tank on Battlefield 3, so much so that I generally can be found inside one or in close proximity to one repairing and spot welding when it has been damaged.

There are still a number of issues with the Tanks though, some of those issues are:

No or Minimal Splash Damage on Infantry with Main Gun[/U]
* Even on Hardcore Servers scoring anything but a Direct Hit on Infantry results in 10% damage to the Infantry in Question (Hence why I've frequently commented on the tanks sometimes firing 120mm Pink Marshmellows instead of AP Rounds)

Seriously though, if you hit the corner of a crate behind which is a guy on foot with 120mm's of Steel Encased Fury, he WILL die, not merely suffer the aftereffects of indigestion so frequently reported when eating too many marshmellows before bedtime

Damage from RPG and SMAW Rockets

* In real life, as some of you may or may not know, even sustained fire from RPG's and SMAW rockets will do nothing but cause a severe headache to the crew of a MBT, it will not, as in this game destroy the tank in 3 Hits

Would it really be that hard to decrease the damage done by these weapons, maybe increasing the damage from an AT mine to immediately disable the tank (AT Mines are used to disable tanks by destroying the Treads of the tank)
That way you would have to swap kits out to take care of tanks, making the Engineer class WORK for kills against Armor instead of everyone on the map packing an RPG and rocketing tanks and infantry alike

I must say Xero that there are so many engineers on the maps its rediculous. Everyone is just firing rockets everywhere. Have to agree that when you roll in with a tank the hits you attract is amazing. It is as if everyone stop shooting at each other and aim for the tanks.

Maybe tanks and Helicopters should disable tanks only and rpg just damage and mines disable???

The problem with the tanks is multi faceted, yes they are a big advantage when used correctly, so I understand that some weapons have to be able to damage them, but why not limit this to weapons that ACTUALLY damage tanks, like Javelin Missle launchers, they have a lock on time and allows the tank to at least fire back
There are few things as frustrating as siting inside a tank and getting rocket spammed to death from guys above you firing out of windows with 4 RPG hits in a row

Real Life? LOL!

Um in real life the same tank will spawn back at base after it gets destroyed? Lol, dude, its a game, just enjoy it for what it is.

If they did make tanks stronger, then they must only respawn 2x per round max to make being infantry a bit fair :-)

I think tanks should go down after 2 RPG hits, not 3.

Or maybe stack the damage towards more advanced anti tank weapons, ie 4 x rpg, but only 1 x javelin.

Xero dude, I don't think so bru.. Sometimes I have fired 5 rockets at a tank and it's still standing. They just DON'T die. I think it's reg as it is. Also, it was moer hard getting by with a chopper in the beginning because they are SO vulnerable. 50 lock-ons every 2 seconds and 1 rocket to take you down = not easy to play with. But then I started unlocking some crazy stuff for the attack choppers and it's getting a bit more of a useful tool.

I saw there are some crazy unlocks for the tanks as well, so just keep playing and stop rolling those tanks into 10 engineers. Just like I have to circle around like a vulture in my chopper, you just need to be more cautious with your tank.

lol, I didn't get 500+ kills with the MBT because I am cautious ;)

Tooken, I have all the Unlocks for the MBT, the only thing that even remotely negates RPG fire is the Reactive armor, but you have to sacrifice the Autoloader to equip it
Tanks are not like the Helicopters in the sense that you can hang back and stick behind the meatshields in the hopes that the RPG's don't find you
You need to use them to push onto targets, my point was that this is a lot harder than one woud think with everyone on the opposing team packing RPG's

and lol Chunky Feather, if they sacrifice tank Respawns for a slightly less "plastic" experience, I would be grateful

I hear you dude, but going in alone in a tank is just not a good idea lol. For instance, when I see that "xero" tag in that tank, I do everything in my will to get that thing disabled HAHAHA, just because I know how much you love it when your tank is on fire :P.

You actually need a good engie team to keep her running as well. It's not all that bad dude, I still think it's pretty well balanced. As I've said, I've shot tanks with 4 - 5 RPGs before they go down. And the engies repair fast so that's a bargain for a tank driver.

Yesterday we discovered a little tactic to take a tank out with one Javelin :D. It's quite fun. But you need 2 guys to do it.

heck no pls, don't make it harder than it already is to take down a tank.

I am already getting ticked off with this disabling, let alone destroying it.

if you check the guys with the RPG/SMAW kills, it's not tanks they have taken out, it is infantry they have spammed it on.

and btw, does the Javelin have different fire modes? like atm it fires useless just like when you traced a tank in BC2 and he hid behind a damn little hill. I thought they said that the Javelin will have 2 modes, direct and "over-head"?
