BCom Accounting Bursary

Hey guys!

I'm really hoping someone here at My Gaming will be able to help me.

A family member has had the unfortunate pleasure of being told their studies will no longer be paid for (has 2 years left to get her degree). Is their anyone here at My Gaming who could offer her a bursary or know of someone who can offer her a bursary? This girls has been through hell and back trying to get something behind her name and it would really mean the world to her if she knew that she didn't have to stress about how she is going to pay for her remaining 2 years at TUKS.

If anyone is able to help, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

No subjects failed this year :) Agreed, hence i want to see if i cant get her a bursary so she doesnt have the added stress :)

Hi Sean,

I commend you for what you are trying to do. Has the young lady been in touch with some of the big auditing firms? I would suggest she try calling them, it is very late in the year, but worth a shot. Pretoria has offices for all of the big 4, and then there are a bunch of very good smaller firms that could be worth considering. I would point you to www.saica.co.za as a starting point.

Hi Fivel. Thank you, i really dont want her to have to throw away the past couple of years she's spent working towards her degree, simply because others feel they should not pay anymore. She hasn't been in touch with any of the firms as it was sprung on her today that she will have to make a plan with regards to payment (the whole situation is sickening). We will get in touch with the big firms tomorrow. Thanks for the web link, really helpful and more importantly, thanks for your help, i really do appreciate it!

Hi Sean, I studied engineering and manage to work at night to pay of my studies that could be your option 2

If she isn't signed then I would send in applications to Deloittes, KPMG and PWC. They have offices close to Tukkies so she should be able to arrange transport for an interview and they often give out bursaries to students. Their websites also have online application forms which should make things easier to sort out.

Her best bet now is to try get them to cover her last 2 years and then she will also have a job after honours which is a plus. Otherwise try sending a message to the Auditor General, they have plenty of bursaries to cover students and are looking for disadvantaged students to help.

Hey Seanj

I work for an auditing firm and we're always looking for Trainee's to come complete their articles here etc...

Is she doing auditing though?

I could potentially assist.

Hi Sycogrim,

Yes, she is doing auditing :-) She is not doing her articles yet, she still has to complete next years studies, are you still possibly able to help? If so, could you PM me. Thanks so much for your help thus far, much appreciated!

I'll chat to one of the partners here and see what he says regarding bursaries etc... However if they do that then chances are she'll be signed onto contract by us for when she leaves and will have to push through their shit  :p

She must apply to Accounting firms and ask her lecturers if they can point her to any bursary suppliers.

Awesome! Thanks for the info :)
