Best games of the year... so far

MetalSoup

There's a GIF for that
We're a quarter of the way through the year already and nothing that has come out so far really stands out as something I must have. What are your favourite games so far this year?

I know there are fairly well received games like Division, but it doesn't really appeal to me, so I'd like to know if there is anything I might have missed. I'm still thinking about getting Rise of the Tomb Raider as well.

The best game I've played this year so far is Street Fighter 5, but that doesn't say much considering how incomplete it is.

The best games I've played so far this year all came out in previous years. Except for Downfall but that's not everyone's cup of tea.

Only games I've played from this year are Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak and Killer Instinct. Neither of them fall under my list of favourite games I've played this year... Favourites so far for this year include:
- Far Cry 4
- Child of Light
- The Witcher 3 (started in Dec 2015)
- GTA V (started in Nov 2015)

i guess if you played this on PC it would be a 2016 release , but i really enjoyed Rise of the Tombraider. I played the Tombraider before that too, enjoyed it, but Rise was just so much better, they got that old tombraider exploration thing back again which wasn't as prevalent in Tombraider before it.

Only 2016 game I played was XCOM2 and I really enjoyed it. I rate it great, definitely 8/8. Best 2016 game I played. Also the worst, but that's neither here nor there :p

Flame in the Flood is the only recent game I played and enjoyed. Its a sweet little survival game, very pretty and tough as nails. Interesting setting too.

So far the best games that'a come out in 2016 that I've played are:

Firewatch
Rocket League on Xbox One (released in Feb this year only)
Stardew Valley

I've seen good things from Ashes of Singularity?

Edit: Ooh... let's not forget about Adr1ft and Trackmania.
Polaris Sector / Hitman / There's Poop in my Soup

Haven't played any new titles this year - saving for either Dark Souls 3, GR: Wild lands or For Honor I have the notion they will even be released in that order. I hate difficult decisions.:)

The witness and xcom2 are great. The division is good but might not be for everyone. There are a hell of a lot of games releasing this year.

Haha, was eyeing SF5, but couldn't bear to pay R700 for a third of a game =/
Btw, how is the SF5 multiplayer scene in ZA?

Not sure if you checked out Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen.
Also like the others have mentioned, XCOM 2 is worth checking out.

Seems pretty dead. In all the time I've been playing, I've found 2 matches. (got my ass handed to me both times)

I haven't actively looked for other players on forums and stuff though.

Fixed it for you :D

there hasnt been much good content this year but a game that i have been joying to bits actually came out end last year and that is AC syndicate, probably the best ac title since black flag.

I am looking forward for mirrors edge catalyst that might be something special.

Firewatch's good, if slightly short.

I got hold of Rainbox Six Siege, I dont play online much, but its very relaxing just playing against some bots. I like the tactical gameplay very, very much. Breaching doors with explosives, scaling a building or taking out enemies while danging upside down from outside a window. Breaking out a small piece of door, popping a flash bang through then charging in dropping enemies with head shots.

It doesnt have a single player campaign, but the mission as very satisfying. I'm eager to start playing more online though.

Really great game. Its like Counter Strike's more elite brother.

I really want them all - but can't afford them all.

I am really finding it difficult to wait for the titles I need to buy. In the beginning of the year I thought of going for The Division or The Siege and Dark Souls III surely looked tempting.

But alas, saving up for For Honor and Ghost Recon: Wildlands - hope it will be worth the wait.

I'm honestly comfortable in waiting for most games. Except Forza 6 Apex. I want it NOW. I've been having a blast in Killer Instinct and didn't flinch at all in dropping R499 for all 3 seasons of it - the most I've paid for a game im years.

Getting my money's worth from Trackmania Turbo. One of those "just one more..." type of games. Hate the beach buggy and sand tracks though.
