Best PC Controller

So, I tend to play most of my PC games using a Xbox controller, but recently, my wired Xbox 360 controller went kaput. Now I'm looking at buying a new controller and trying to decide which one would be best for PC gaming. I'm really looking hard at the steam controller, but I'm so used to the Xbox 360 controller that I'm not sure if I'd like the steam controller. What are your opinions on the steam controller, and would you recommend it over an Xbox 360 controller?

Except the Xbox One controller :D

I don't like the deep indents on the xbox one controller, but I suppose it just takes some getting used to. Either way you can't wrong with an Xbox controller, I think they have the best compatibility with almost anything on PC.

Yeah, not to mention they are super robust!

Some of those Speedlink controllers use the same X-input as xbox controller so there's less setting up if any, nice for a spare

I should really try to get used to controllers, I am like a cripple with it, esp FPS games. I have the XBox 360 with the wireless controller. Like some have said, that thing is robust, its like those old Nokias.

My son plays a lot of those Lego games and I played Portal 2, Life Is Strange, some other games. Basically no setup, just works.

I'm also using the DS4 with my PC. It works great with DS4Windows :). All I need to get is a Bluetooth adapter so I can go wireless.

My laptop already has Bluetooth built in, and I game on it more than my desktop these days (I7 + 16GB RAM + GTX970m > I5 + 8GB RAM + R9 280x). I haven't even given the wireless a try yet - I just stick to wired.

hmm...so no cable to PC?

Thats interesting...might just get me one of those, hook laptop up to TV and do a bit of fake consol'ing. Been meaning to play Dark souls anyway.

Is there a way too hook up a Xbone controller to a laptop wirelessly? Googling suggest not without a dongle...

Your Googling is correct. XBOX controller doesn't work with Bluetooth, but DS3/4 controllers do.

hmm...they're more expensive than I would have thought. About a grand. :/

Will need to have a think whether thats worthwhile

Have no experience with a Steam controller; I have been using my wireless 360 controller for years now and it still does the job.

I do not wish to discourage trying new things, but if you're uncertain or in two minds about buying SC, rather play it safe and use what you're used to.
Perhaps in future you could invest in the SC, maybe as a back-up controller.

:)

I prefer the Xbox (360 or One) controller for PC.

However the Logitech F710 (wireless) and the F310 (wired) are not bad either

C'mon man, you're living the life overseas. Might as well splurge on a controller, as CoL-wise it's not that expensive for you. :)
Unfortunately I must report that the muneys don't grow on trees here either. But yeah...will probably be able to justify it after I finish my PC game backlog...so possibly somewhere round 2025.

I've got a Logitech controller to sell if anyone is interested. It's wireless and I never actually used it. It's a Logitech F710. It came with my computer which I bought second hand so no box for it but it was bought in December from Takealot and I've got a copy of the invoice.
