HI all!
Want to get myself a new PC.
Was wondering, when is the best time to buy hardware? Before Christmas, during or after?

This is what im looking for:
i5 3570k
8GB RAM 1600 (2x 4GB)
PSU minimum 450Watt
Motherboard, USB 3, 7.1 sound, OC support
Chassis - Pretty much any, but must provide good ventilation.
Graphic - 1GB ddr5, clock 1000mhz

Budget between 4-5k
Open to any suggestion! :)

Buy from rebeltech or PM joker for help

3570K - R2500 odd
Board R1500 odd
RAm R500 odd

That is your budget already.

So you are going to have to drp down from your 3570 setup

So youll prolly go 3470
board ram and PSU

Cant push a GPU in with that budget .

Cpu: i5 2.6ghz
Motherboard: Entry level board (will update the model a bit later im at work)
Ram: 6gb 2x2gb Kingston
HDD: 500gb + 80gb hdds(used for OS)
DVD RW drive
GTX 460 786mb ( plays latest games on high)
Black standard Keyboard + Razor Diamondback 3g
Standard black Case a little bit damaged as its old and i built new hardware into it.
1000wat psu (sli)
24inch BENQ 1920x1080

Looking for 5k for it im located in JHB Northern suburbs.

PM me if you are interested

From my experience if you wait until after Xmas, distributors are trying to clear out their old stock at reduced prices to make way for new stuff. They usually keep prices up during Xmas period because of increased sales.

Ok guys...Unfortunately we live in a SHIT country where retailers/suppliers are quick to put up pricing as soon as the Rand weakens against the dollar and then high prices remain for months even when the rand recovers...Its just the sly bastards that they are.

Right now is not the best of time to buy but its also not the worst.

@OP You're aiming way to high with that budget. Drop me a pm and we can go through what you need and what you can spend.

thanx for the feedback guys!
the CPU i can get from wootware for 2299
ram will be 500
motherboard i should be able to get one for 1k
dont need hardrives
i found at thermaltake PSU for 230
Chassis i can get for 340
thinking this g-card should be enough http://www.wootware.co.za/sapphire-...dr5-pci-e-3-0-28nm-desktop-graphics-card.html
i dont want to compromise because of budget. Rather spend more now and have the PC last a while longer.
anyone able to find better prices?

Guess i will just wait til after christmas, will have my christmas bonus by then too =D

I can beat those prices but let's 1st talk about you're selection of hardware.

The cpu is fine and the board most likely as well although I don't know what it is.
That power supply...Im guessing its a Thermaltake Lite power? If so they are not suitable for gaming pc's at all, So you should avoid it like the plague.

The gpu isn't bad but its not gonna be great either. If you're gonna be playing at 1920x1080, you're gonna struggle with that card and its not very future proof.

ahh this is why i posted on the forum, to avoid choosing the wrong hardware.
thx joker, yes u were right, it was the lite power
i saw this PSU too: http://www.takealot.com/computers/computer-components/corsair-cx430-watt-power-supply-unit,9301067
that should do it
well the thing is, im using a 32" Flatscreen TV so i usually play games in low res, because i sit quite far away from the screen. Currently playing diablo 3 at 800x600. I not a hardcore gamer, i dont need the BESt graphics. Just enough to play the latest games really.

In reply to cranky: Why what happened. Am seriously thinking of getting a few things from them

after some heated emails it sort of resolved itself.. tips for buying at rebeltech.

avoid Anything with the name Eric on it. if you get any response insist some 1 else help you.

2. EFT does not include direct deposit at a bank. This is a problem apparently .

IF you call to tell "eric you paid an amount and it was a direct deposit they will ignore your order till you physically send the POP or hope the accountant sees it 48 hours later.

After i had a bit of a sesh on emails the owner jumped on things and i kinda got to see why people would WANT TO ORDER FROM REBELTECH> there is the service i was told about.

I paid Monday morning. Direct deposit int their account but my order only got processed late Wed after noon and ive got a 12 year old little bro expecting his present on Friday. This MIGHT only be possible now . But since a non Eric took over its been smooth sailing even got updated as to what parts arrived and what they still waiting for,

Ufortunately first impressions is very important and Eric pissed all over that .

IF i get my pc Today its still 100% inline with what i expected and ill be ok ish with them. Good service wouldve seen my pc in my hands on Wed and horrific service anything later than Friday. I still need to isntall his OS and Office and games and if it comes through on Friday this wont be possible .

personal opinion from now on would be to pay the extra R200 odd and let Joker sort you out.

Thats crazy. Considering the amount of good reviews on hello peter you would think they good. But i had a few questions regarding my build and i dealt with the same person you did. Feedback was 2 days later and very brief. Got awesome feedback from wootware though. But i think when i order next week ill send it straight to rune! Thanks for the heads up though.

So just to add to this.. Got email yesterday at 16:54 that end off with I promise we will do our best !!!

So guess what ... its now almost 24 hours later and NO REPLIES>

*Edit*

So I emailed and got replied : Wondered why we didnt get an email from you today.. Your pc is ready we are only waiting for the cpu. When do you want to collect?

They haven't received my CPU 40 minutes before closing time. I dont think they are going to but are offering me the chance to collect it ?

WHAT THE FLYING F*** is that about?

Calm down. You are misunderstanding him. He is asking when it would suit you to collect. Once he has that info he can try & make sure that the CPU is there on time. He wasn't suggesting that you collect half a PC.
