Bethesda “super seriously” intent on pursuing litigation against Minecraft dev

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't that Todd dude from Bethesda Interview The minecraft oke a while back and said his game is looking cool and talking about minecraft all friendly like, only for them to turn around and now do this?

Or I could be completely mistaken as we have been drinking since 10 (work function)

I know internetpetitionlol and all that stuff, but is there really nothing we can show to prove our disapproval of this? I think it's going beyond retarded, and it's a simple case of the bigger fish pecking on the smaller fish. The fact that the case is still ongoing shows what assholes Zenimax are being about it.

I'm phoning KFC and Mcdonalds right now and telling them to rename their Foldover and twister to chicken scrolls.
lol fucking retarded I swear!!

I reckon it has bery little to do with the developer side of the company; they all love making games and playing games no doubt. This is the lawyer-side of the company flexing their muscles.

They make Bethesda look like dicks though.

If they follow through, I absolutely will not buy Skyrim, and I will be buying Mojang's Scrolls, whatever it may turn out to be named.

Remeber guys, we have Bethesda Softworks, who publish games, and Bethesda Game Studios, who develops games. These two child companies of Zenimax have very little to do with each other. Bethesda Softworks, the publishers, are the ones upset about the Scrolls name, not Bethesda Game Studios, which is where Todd Howard and the Skyrim/Fallout team works.

You kinda got those names mixed for the links. :)

I would still want to see them go into VS mode, like they were challenged a while ago.

But yeah, like James said, this is the legal side flexing their muscles. And this does make Bethesda look like complete tools. Another good point made in this thread is from Avatar. Even though it might be the publishing house that is getting all upside their faces, many people are unaware that the design studio and the publishing house are two separate entities. Many people see them as one being and that might cause them to look like chops as a whole.

I reckon that it is a bit far fetched to sue them for using the word "Scroll"...I can't see how someone can claim to possess that word, since it has been around longer than both companies' lifespans combined. That would be like Joker over their trademarking the word "joke" (Which I totally think you should do, dude :D)

I can see how this is a dick move, but is boycotting Skyrim really going to affect anything? There's no way I can go without playing Skyrim in this lifetime. :P

How about boycotting the collector's edition and downgrading to the standard edition, and using the spare change to buy scrolls?

I did no such thing, where is your proof?!

Erm...

I mean..
Their fixed now, thanks for the heads up! ;) They point to the same page anyway, just different sections.
One more time. :)

That should read;

No worries ekse, I just hope they drop this stupid lawsuit, it's almost as bad as that whole EDGE thing.
