Police recovered a fake Gauteng flying squad vehicle that may have been used in more than 35 crimes in and around Johannesburg, The Star reported on Friday.

Police received a call on Thursday that a house in Alberton had been robbed. When they arrived on the scene, they drove past a flying squad vehicle, with an unmarked GTI Golf in tow.

Police spoke to the occupants of the flying squad vehicle and even co-ordinated how to track down the robbers.

I'm not sure how to beware of the fake thing. If I see lights and the car looks semi legit, I don't have time to analyse it to look for fakeness in it. If it's the real thing they're going to add other misdemeanors to the charge list, like failing to stop.

You can drive to a petrol station or police station if I am correct?

Edit: I guess if I was part of the flying squad and the car didn't stop...I might cut you off or call for back up

Put on your hazards,drive slowly to a public area like a petrol station/police station.Have your phone ready to take videos/pics or make that emergency phone call.
They can't arrest you if you have your hazards on and drive slowly and if they argue with you,say for safety reasons of what fake cops are out there you prefer to pull over in an area where there are a lot of people.
 
I have printed out all the articles that have discussed the problem of fake squad cars, just for in case I do get pulled over legitimately and do the right thing of driving into a petrol station just to show them my reason of not stopping.

Where can one find those papers?you have a link where one can download?
 
Fake police cars, crooks with police issued weapons and a 1000+ cops with criminal records. The line is becoming mighty blurry...
