Bible makes strong comeback

Guys my 50 cents worth... I am religious yes i did find it offensive, but at the same time its your opinion and choices so im nto going ot get butthurt about it like you guys say who defines what but in all honesty i really dont ever think politics and religion should be discussed on a forum if they are at least put them in sections where i know to stay the fsck away from

But the thread is clearly marked as a religious thread. You cannot come into the thread without seeing that the topic is religious, unless you just close your eyes and click on the screen willy-nilly. :p

Who has the authority to draw the line, that's all I ask you?

The authority belongs to whoever owns the platform that the discussion is taking place on, and in this case it would ofcourse be the MyGaming admin.

We're all entitled to our own opinions, be it objective and/or subjective views.
What I've have said, is my opinions and/or beliefs on this topic.

This is my final stand point.

Personally, I'd prefer to see religious related threads discussed, bashed, insulted and assaulted in PD in MyBB. There I know not to go. It gets ugly and I can avoid it. It just hurts to see some of the cheap shots about the most important person to me. I prefer to avoid it if I can because as mentioned above, it's unlikely I am going change anyone's mind or way of thinking in a forum.

Sir, I find your lack of punctuation and poor grammar usage offensive , and therefore I'm offended.

Also It's up to the admins to decide if somebody has really crossed the line, and punish them accordingly. We all have different standards, some get more easily offended than others. Both can't be catered for at the same time.

From my side, to reiterate what I said earlier, I will draw a line from a community management stand point. If I see religious debates popping up that cause members to develop intense dislike for one another and somehow it damages the group psyche of the forum, then I will have to say it's in the best interest of the forum community in general to say we stay away from religious topics.

However, I will only want to do this as a very last resort, because it is a slippery slope toward banning other serious topics on that logic. This has been brought up in this thread. If we go down that road, then we'll be left with nothing to talk about - people even get worked up over whose sport team is best!

As for creating a separate section, I don't think that's necessary or wise. A religious debate section might been seen as an invite for people to start posting on the subject, which will only likely exacerbate the aggravation these topics cause. Plus, the amount of babysitting something like that will require makes me hesitant. I don't have time to do it myself, and any mod appointed to monitor such a thing will have to have a very solid grounding understanding debate structure and the ability to remain neutral on the topic. Not an easy person to find.

Exactly what I was getting at.

Wait is this a satirical thread or what? Originally I thought the OP was serious and I would have commented something positive in response but I had a feeling it would go the way of all religious threads; and I was right. No good thing ever happens.

There's something about forums that incites massive personal overreactions to what are intended as banal or jokey comments. My opinion is that it's because of a lack of facial cues that the social mirroring regions of our brains can latch onto to read intent.

But let's flip this around.

All you are trying to do is justify that you can dictate what people are allowed to say, regardless of whether it is actually offensive or not. A bit of a reality check would be nice.

Not at all, don't try and spin something to prove your point. Just because we live in an anonymous Internet world shouldn't mean there are no boundaries.

Ok well let's retaliate a bit and make some jokes about atheism. I'll get the ball rolling :

As a joke, it's potentially funny.

It's not a correct representation of atheism though. If you've met a professed atheist who takes this stance, then they themselves don't understand the meaning of atheism.

EDIT: I'm talking more specifically about the "nothing" parts.
