Bioshock Securom issue

During the week, I installed and activated Bioshock.

I was looking forward to playing for the first time last night when I was confronted with the following error message:


No disc inserted
Please insert the original "bioshock" CD/DVD
Please have a look at http://www.securom.com/message.asp?,=nodisc for further, more detailed information.


The command line option they suggest here does not appear to be supported in Windows 7.

Have any of you had to deal with this problem and if so, how did you resolve it?

That is a bit of a tough one, never seen that. Could be that due to Win7 being in the beta stage it may not support a certain component at this stage, but I am not sure.

I know on Vista almost every time I wanted to play the game it asked me to put my CD key, which got very irritating. I even tried to get a crack but couldnt find one, I quickly finished the game so was ok.
 
Have any issues with other securom games?? Did you have any issues during installation?? This seems like issue between the dvd rom and securom. Have you installed the latest bioshock patch?? If that doesn't work you could check if their's a firmware update for your dvd rom.

DOHC-WP: I don't think that the Wii or PS2 would do justice to Bioshock [and no, buying yet another console is out of the question] It is a pity that us PC owners have to contend with this though. :mad:

I haven't played any other recent Securom games such as Mass Effect or Sacred 2. I have noticed that the Bioshock disc is not showing up under
Windows explorer. I shall take a look for the latest BIOS for my Samsung
S-223Q and see whether that makes any difference.

Isengard, I am reluctant to use a no-CD crack as I have no way of knowing what the side-effects of its use may be. ;)
 
Download the No-Cd crack from like megames.com or gamecopyworld and look for the Vista crack that should help.... :rolleyes:
 
hmmm did same with nfs carbon last night, but my guess it is more to do with the fact that some protection schemes don't like SATA drives to much. had this issue a few times now on both xp and vista 64.

have you tried running Yasu???? and then running ur games it could be that ur PC is picking up some form of hacked software etc... and wont pick up ur CDs now.... download Yasu and give it a try it hides all ur drives from securerom and all that...
 
Have you got it to work phoenix?

It sucks when that happens. It's the absolute worst when you go out to buy a game and you look forward to it and then it's just impossible to play.

yeh i had that with bioshock... it kept asking for the orginal disk which it was and at that stage i was having major problems with my pc... as I installed the game I renamed the installation folder when it was done installing therefore stopping it from deleting the directory closed it inserted my disk and ran yasu..... next thing it was working like beauty :D

I reluctantly downloaded the no-CD patch for Bioshock v1.1 from gamecopyworld while shaking a metaphorical fist at the DRM measures which made this necessary.
 
Yes but then you have to play with crap graphics and you won't have the freedom of a mouse:-(...no thanks!
 
agreed..consoles are for people who just like things as they are.. Me I like the fact that i can test my rig by boosting up the graphic quality etc
