BioWare thinks the Dragon Age series “must be improved in future instalments”

Well...their first problem was applying the sequel technique from ME1 -> ME2 on DA1 -> DA2 which is a completely different game!

Love DA1. Still play it. Modding the thing to death etc. Awesome game. DA2...not so much. Boring. Flat. Meh. Should have kept in the same line as DA1...but no...just had to go and fix something that wasn't broke now. Ah well. Let us hope you truly HAVE learned from your mistakes. Now go make DA III and do it right!

think ? lol ?

they've been too much it's us bioware the populace licks up our ip without resistance.

as ori said, me1 to me2 was good, but you can't just copy and paste what works in one ip into another.

I'm currently playing the first Dragon Age. On which is apparently the worst platform to play it on and I'm very impressed. I love Bioware games. There's just nothing quite like it. I'm still going to play the second one even if it's not as good.

Didn't Tsar say that he preferred the second installment? I'm hoping that people just complained because it's not as good as the first game but that it's still a good game.

It's great that the team is learning from their mistakes though. Some teams never do.

Yea, yea, Bioware wants you to buy the DLCs coming out for DA2....how else are they going to sell it? They totally forgot that DLCs don't sell if you release a crappy game to begin with, and now they wake up with a "make good" thing here.

I didn't even finish DA2, it put me off so much. The game needs massive improvements if they are to restore the name to its original glory... :/

Edit: Oh and I want a proper RPG this time, not a glorified action game.

Same as me, didn't even finish DA2, got as far as the Deeproads and well.. just got over it. No where near as captivating as the first game.

Oh very well said Isengard - glorified action game indeed! They dumbed the damn thing down :(

The game itself will give anyone some enjoyment - if into action type games and approach it as such. If you come to the party expecting a solid RPG however...think again.

Bioware normally deals well with these kinds of situations. And they do listen to their fans.

There were a bunch of articles a while back relating to the creating of Mass Effect 2 and the feedback that was received from fans (from ME1). They implemented those changes, and look how ME2 turned out...very cool. I bet that there will be a lot of guys reading the Bioware forum for some user tips in the near future. I can't say anything bad about DA2, but from what I hear, a lot of people are not happy with it.

Im currently playing Dragon Age Origins and I love it so far.
I heard that Dragon Age 2 is good, so I want to get into that asap.
How long does the first game take to complete?

Bioware REALLY sold out on DA2. It was purely made with the intention of making money and NOT being a great game. Dragon Age 1 was unique...Dragon Age 2 was a carbon copy, dummed down to suit consoles...The only good thing about dragon age 2 was the voice acting and storyline.

I'm not saying consoles are dum...not at all...just due to their inherent gamepad design they aren't really designed for deep, classic RPG experiences. And for me that's what Dragon Age epitomised. Bioware needs to revisit the Baldures Gate/Neverwinter nights style of play...if they're interested in targeting the classic RPG market...if not, quite frankly, those gamers (like myself) will look elsewhere to The Witchers of the gaming world.

(P.s. Dungeon Siege III looks like a classic version of a deep RPG experience dummed down for the console) :-(

Depending on the number of sidequests you take, it took me about 35 - 40hours (can't remember if that was with or without Awakening)

Look, if you play DA2 without considering the first game at all, it's still a respectable product, and not bad at all in comparison with other recent RPGs. However, it falls short of DA:O. Far short. And that's why it's labeled as a disappointment to the series. As a standalone or spin-off title, sure, go DA2, but as a sequel to the first it's a disgrace. So many elements were just discarded and redone, stupid decisions were made in the design. I hope that the next game will return to what made DA:O so great. And for god's sake do away with the new combat system/animation.

I enjoyed both. I don't think it should have been dragon Age 2 though since its a different style of game-play. Maybe still have the dragon age name, just to indicate its taking place in the same world, but make it clear this is a different take on the original game. And then down the line release another dragon age game which is more in line with dragon age 1. I think this would have been more acceptable than call it dragon age 2. Well to me it is.

Yeah who ever voted what to name it totaly got it wrong since it just caused confusion.

Wonder whether they are admitting this because they really feel so or because da 2's sales failed compared to origins.;) Hopefully its not the later but knowing EA that is very likely.

DA 2 failed because BW neglected their core market(most likely through EA's influence). They forgot about their true fans who have been following them since the bg 2 days and tried to secure the action gamer segment and it blew up in their face. Not only did they fail to attract the majority of the action gamers, they also lost a lot of their core rpg market.

Hopefully they get back to the BW we love with DA3,KOTOR mmorpg and ME3.
