Black Ops Dedicated Server dilemma

Those that feel it will help in any way can go to gameservers and click on the link at the bottom of the page that says - "suggest a location". Its anybodies guess whether this will work but its worth a try.

Done. Everyone please do this!!

If you notice, South Africa is on their list of possible locations in the dropdown which obviously means we are a possibility, so please, as many as people as possible need to do this!!!!

plus it's been confirmed, by sane people atleast, that the pc version of BC2 is in fact superior to console versions, barring the onslaught mode but that's subjective wether it's cool or not

as for the server issue, added my 2cents to that link thing they have. hope it works

I couldn't fucking care about dedicated servers tbh. Us consolefags have been getting along fine without them for ages.

Erm ... kay. The point is that PC gamers in general are completely spoiled. Dedicated servers, etc.

I don't know about that.

I think PC gamers would have come around to the peer-to-peer thing if it wasn't completely broken in Modern Warfare 2.

Dedicated servers are obviously better, but Modern Warfare 2 XBL matchmaking > Modern Warfare 2 PC matchmaking.

Update

I have so far been able to confirm that as of this time, Gameservers is the official EXCLUSIVE server manager for Black Ops. So, unless they come here, we will not be playing this game online locally.

herp derp.

So its been like that forever why change now don't you know we hate change. jk yeah so what we have been spoiled. But then again gamers are so stupid they go and buy the game anyway but then again they don't live in south africa with weak internet.

Lol dam p2p matchmaking I still can't get a game on mw2 that's not TDM

That is a very valid point. However if you (i.e. joe consumer) aren't happy with the experience of a game, then simply stop supporting the developer/publisher. Whining about it is not really going to help after all.

Granted not everyone welcomes change with open arms. Look at it this way, at least you don't have to PAY to play Peer 2 Peer based games. 360 gamers are getting screwed a lot more in that regard. It could have been a lot worse.

True enough, we could be forced to start to pay for something we've had relatively free access to for ages

It's such a retarded move. In this case even the MW2 p2p system is a better solution. Us third world countries really get shafted in cases like this. Another great move by the almighty Activision.

Upset! LOL

Hey, how many large game development corporates have you seen lately, that give a damn about gamers' opinions? Everything is moving towards, putting process/infrastructure/rules in place, that bring in revenue after the initial sale of the game. *shrug* Furthermore, who cares anyway, when military fps games are a dime a dozen. There's so many competing at the moment, you can very easily give the up yours finger, to black ops, and try something else.

True, but there almost as many kak military FPS games out there! The problem here is that this has the potential to be a really great game for the online community, but it is not to be locally it would seem.

I would use the word mediocre, lol. I also think a community can make or break a MP game. What I'm trying to say is, some of those kak military fps, as you call them, aren't as shitty as you think, when you throw in the community element, and jamming it up with your mates.

It's hard to make great games nowadays, cos everyone has a different opinion on what great is. And then, business/greed or anti-piracy methods, rock up at your door, to fuck up the party.

I will still buy this game because as aldyr said, playing with your mates is where fun can be had.

Just please don't anyone give me shit like BC2 ever again. I will rather eat shit than endorse anything MP wise from Dice/EA. Even if i have issues like in MW2, i still enjoy playing it. Sure it can/could have been better BUT always remember if you live in a shitty backwards, greedy country like ours, money don't go for Broadband upgrades which is 1 of the main issues.

I think a majority of us can agree that CoD4 was great. So why fuck with that working formula and bring out the utter crap that was MW2 and now this? If you wanted some "new and fresh" start a new franchise, It'll get you more money and everyone will be happy.
