Black villain in Uncharted 4 speaks in a terrible Afrikaans accent

Hang on.. so the title is about the terrible Afrikaans Accent? But the article is about race?
I'm not one for calling the race card.. but WTF guys? Who cares?

If an American can play a British Character, and no-one bats an eye, then why write an entire article about a white person playing a black one? How is it so different?
The lady got the voice part because she worked her ass off and was the best for the role. Not because of skin, race or even gender.

I think the point is that no what race the character is - when asked to do a South African accent people default to a terrible attempt at Afrikaans.

Yeah the title i feel is misleading, it's more about race than it is about the accent, personally I don't care who they get to cast their characters, it's their game they can choose who they want, there is nothing wrong with a white person playing a black person (or vice versa) in games, if the person fits the requirements or is the best canditate to play the role then the person deserves it.

Didn't think the accent sounded that bad, and it didn't sound afrikaans, if anything English South African accent to me. Couldn't care less what race does the voice acting work.

The intention here was to poke fun at the studio's brief to the voice actor to do a South African accent, and her basically doing Leo diCaprio from Blood Diamond.

And then the Studio's apparent belief that everyone in South Africa speaks with that poor rendition of an Afrikaans accent by deciding that Nadine should be a black woman.

I dropped the ball here. Sorry, guys.

its funny when a game has a white villain then no one complains but the moment there's a black villain then its a big controversy, like when resident evil 5 came out, 4 other previous Re games and spin offs all had white villains and no one complained the moment re 5 had you killing non whites the world went mad.

I remember there was some controversy over this last year already. It sounds more British to me than South African, which initially didn't bother me, I thought they were just not familiar enough with the accent. But after seeing the latest Madagascar preview and hearing the proper SA accents from the other enemies it's kinda annoying that they were still satisfied with her accent.
