Blesbok sold for R7.8 million

A game breeder paid R7.8 million for an exotic Saddleback blesbok, Beeld reported on Monday.

The brown and white blesbok, named Top Deck, stole the limelight at the 13th Absa Kirkwood Wildlife Festival when Gamevest owner Phillip Mostert bought him.

Top Deck's brother, Mnumzane, was reportedly sold for R4.2 million in May during an auction in Limpopo.

I thought "blesbok" was a code name for some military vehicle... did not expect it to be a real bokkie!
 
Strangely coincidence but I spoke to a game farmer on Friday evening and he showed me pictures of a Saddleback he bought for R300k a week or so ago. I asked him how much he plans on charging for the biltong per kg to break even.
Apparently he doesn't share my sense of humour.
 
This is pretty excessive...

The only way this guy can be thinking is to breed "ye old TopDeck" with another, suitable mate, and come away with some prized million buck bokkies in the years to come...
