Blizzard cancels its next-gen MMO Titan after seven years

There's a GIF for that
This revelation comes after at least seven years in development and word last year that the developer was going back to the drawing board to reevaluate the project.

Speaking to Polygon, Blizzard co-founder and CEO Mike Morhaime reiterated that the company has technically never officially announced Titan, though it hasn't been shy to talk about the game over the past seven years. "We had created World of Warcraft, and we felt really confident that we knew how to make MMOs," Morhaime said. "So we set out to make the most ambitious thing that you could possibly imagine. And it didn't come together.

"We didn't find the fun," Morhaime continued. "We didn't find the passion. We talked about how we put it through a reevaluation period, and actually, what we reevaluated is whether that's the game we really wanted to be making. The answer is no."

Yeah I read about this earlier :(

Was actually keen on seeing how Titan was going to pan out. I've been itching for a new MMO because I miss the feelings I got when I first started playing WoW.

Grouping with friends and strangers back in 07 and 08 gave such a great sense of accomplishment and I'm still in contact with those players today.

I miss the times when a Blizzard release was big news....as in WarCraft 1/2/3.

Also...Westwood. I'll be over there crying >>> in a corner >>> :(:(:(

I suppose this is what's sets Blizzard aside as a quality developer - they at least know when to give up on a project rather than release a sub-standard game.

This.

Rather scrap a game that they felt didn't live up to its potential and have the quality of a Blizzard game, instead of releasing something crap.

Yeah, definitely. I'm very curious to know what they'll take on next, but we probably won't know for another couple of years.

Just give me Warcraft 4.

Pls. Blizzard.

I can actually see this happening, while Warcraft was one of the first major titles from Blizzard it's success was met by Starcraft, then Warcraft 3, followed by Starcraft 2, you can pick up the trend they are going for here.

What if they created a new 'Craft game, but in a modern combat setting. Kinda like C&C Generals, but with a Blizzard spin. They can call it something like SiegeCraft.

...or a World of StarCraft would also suffice. :D

Or how about they partner with their sister company and take advantage of another best-seeling franchise and create...
CoDCraft! C'mon admit it, we ALL want that :D
