Blizzard Finally Kills Your Productivity

"It’s been promised for a while, but now you can chat with your guild right from your smartphone. Blizzard has released an update to the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory iOS app that enables guild chat as part of the remote subscription option. Previously, paying an extra $3 a month only gave you auction house access, but now it’ll give you access to your guild chat (and whispers) on the go. Now you can be connected to your WoW guild wherever you are.
Right now, the guild chat feature is just in testing and as such it’s free. But it’s only available on two servers, Fizzcrank and Lightbringer. It should launch on all servers soon, at which point you’ll need the $3 a month remote subscription to use it."

hahaha

Some people really take this game way too seriously. You;d be surprised how much income that little $3 brings to them. People later see the add-on as a necessity and won't go without it.

What I'm looking forward to is being able to party and go do dungeons with your RealID friends. I have several friends spread over different Realms and it's a pain if you want to play together since it means moving your character there (for a fee) or even creating a new one/leveling it from scratch just to play.

The more features they bring out like this the better I'd say. Just hope this one doesn't cost a monthly fee :D

Actually, I found the iPhone app to be extremely useful. For starters, when I was playing WoW every day (hello ADSL issues :( ) I would get great enjoyment out of making money on the auction house. When I got my iPhone, I stuck the WoW app on it, and it was awesome.

I could see what was going on with the AH, I could tell if things sold, and then, when I got home from work, I was able to quickly finish all the admin from pimping gold and get to the important stuff like xp runs/dungeon runs.

Of course, I wouldn't need the phone app to call my guildies cos they all live in the same house :)

Yes, my guild has 3 people: my wife and my best friend... makes for a no issue guild set up!!

I don't really have a problem with this particular premium service. Its not quintessential to playing the game, its something extra that certain people will get a use from, so those people will pay for the service. It's the RealID dungeon grouping service planned on being a premium service makes me angry. This is a feature that most, if not all players will find useful, and be an important part of their WoW experience. We already pay a subscription fee, this should be enough.

It's not confirmed or said to be planned (AFAIK) to be a premium service. I'm almost sure of that... if they do that it's going to suck

Yeah I completely agree with Skunkzy and AcidRaZor. If RealID dungeon grouping becomes a premium service then Blizzard is overdoing it. They are receiving their money already, they should really make such a useful (and fun!) feature available to everyone.

Unfortunately acidrazor the blue post announcing the RealID friend service said that it will be a premium service, but the amount of whine and QQ from players on the official forums about it being so will probably end up it getting changed to free. Who knows, its Blizzard and sometimes they do what they want and don't care what the community thinks

WoW2 will be a facebook like game ;-P. No wait, Blizzard will re-invent and reshape facebook and call it Blizzard Book and then you can play your MMOs through that!

TwitSpaceFaceWoWBook.com now with Microsoft Outlook integration so you can play while you work!

Get your AH reminders right in your Outlook CALENDAR!!

I used the mobile app over December to make some gold in the game, was pretty fun felt like a mini "wow" since all i do is make gold in the game for my economics thesis anyway. But won't pay for it again.

Is there any kind of feature that notifies you when someone logs into your account? My account has been "hacked" twice this year. The last time was a week ago. My account was dormant since March and they then activated my 7 day trial and then helped themselves to my gold and items. Since the first time I have been running Avast antivirus, Spybot, Windows 7 firewall. THough the firewall was off :o when they hacked me the last time, so I don't know if that is how they got my credentials.

Only reason I knew something was amiss was because they reset my password and I got that email notifier.

I've been emailed before on suspicion of account abuse. I received an email one day saying "potential unauthorized access to your account". I believe they track the IP address where you login from. So if you just logged out and some douchbag logs into your account from say Japan... you should get a notification in your inbox.

They also lock the account sometimes when something suspicious occurs, but what that is, I don't know.

I've had my account locked twice recently, and the only places that I log in is from my home and from work. I'm not sure what triggered it, but it doesn't look like I was hacked. Both events also happened after I attached an authenticator to the account.

Better safe than sorry :)

Just btw about that facebook thing, didn't they(Blizzard) say that their next project (Titan) will incorporate Facebook somehow?
