Blizzard warns hackers with legal action

Don't really have an issue with this.

I used the Starcrack mod myself to play against AI (until i got a beta key WOOOT!! (sorry, still excited)) but if they were trying to set up an illegal server I think thats going a bit far, at a certain point its just piracy.

If there is gonna be some sort of hack for LAN or skirmish (or both) I'm not going to hesitate to get those since they should have included that in the system from the start.

I agree with Raven.

But, this shouldn't be news. Blizzard should go always go after hackers... That is a company's duty.

If you support any type of hack you shouldn't complain when they introduce harsher DRM measures

Hacks arent only for people who pirated the game..
Take for example assasins creed 2 , where I bought the game and use iburst to maintain that connection..

If I reach my cap or have connectivity issues you can be sure that Im going to crack it to play offline.

I wish game companies would bring down the prices of the games and stop with all these protections that get cracked anyway.

With higher prices people who cant afford it will pirate it. Make it more affordable and people who want to buy it , wont settle for a cracked copy that might not work properly. put the guys who sell pirated games out of business.

On that note , hooray for those titles that come back a year later at less than half the price so I can actually buy them.

Sorry but 350 / 400 rand a game is still an investment , plus the cost of having a unshaped internet connection im almost looking at over a grand a month just to stay connected ..

Yes this is my hobby , and yes i do buy originals to play on official servers ,
im saying sometimes these hacks do more for the guys who bought the original in terms of functionality ,
and if it lets us play a game on a local server with lower ping (*cough* DOTA *cough*) , I say , why not.

Herein lays the problem. At the moment the legal guys are suffering due to DRM limiting them from playing the game they legally bought. The pirates on the other hand are enjoying hassle-free gaming. The problem is that DRM was brought into fruition due to hacks/piracy in the first place. Unless people stop pirating/hacking games DRM will simply become an even harsher reality. I agree that publishers should also support legal customers but when some of them do by not including DRM they get hammered even more by piracy instead of customers supporting them.

Well everyone screams at the pirates, what about those who still buy these games and show the companies they can get away with it? 'Oh but that does nothing to make the situation worse.' Theres more than one guilty party, people.

If there is a hack/mod that allows SC2 to have LAN support, I'd actually buy it. No LAN support is a very strong reason to just ignore SC2
