Blue Ray on cell phones

Ok so they have Blue Ray on all most every device. I ask this what would people think of Blue Ray on cell phones? Would that be awesome. Where instead of buying Blue Ray dvds, one can buy a Blue Ray Memory Card with a movie already installed, ready to go, to watch on your phone any where and any time.
It is indeed one of my most crazy ideas. No harm in trying to put it forward.
I wanted to hear your guys thoughts on it before I dare place it forward to Blue Ray.

I mean lets face it people do not have time to sit in front of a pc or laptop -tv. Yet we all have our cellphones with us.We all have time for that. How brilliant would it be.

A cellphones screen is so small it would be a waste to use "Full HD" on it IMO. Even SD material is scaled down to fit the screen, it would be understandable if it was a tablet.

In general I really think that watching a movie on cellphone is silly. Rather find time to sit in front of a computer or tv. I'd imagine watching a whole movie on such a small screen can be somewhat frustrating no matter the quality of the movie. I wouldn't mind watching a 20 minute episode but a two hour movie? I'd rather wait till I have time to enjoy the movie on a bigger screen... Just my 2 cents.

that is what I mean what if they could develop a reasonably sized cell phone, that one could watch blu ray on and not have to squint. or to have the phone plug into a hd tv and use the phone like a portable blu ray player.?

Even the biggest cellphone screen is too small imo and what's the point of that quality on such a small screen. It would be a waste. Why not just load the movie on a card/flash drive that can be connected to tv/pc. That would kill the bluray movement quickly.

*Ok, see ur idea is similar.

@vodacom

Client: I want to watch BlueRay on my phone...

It's a phone, reasonable size is not bigger than your hand. Any bigger and it's a tablet. :/

Technically it's Blu-ray not Blue Ray.

Blu-ray is a optical disc that stores data, significantly more data than a dvd. Its ability to store a lot of data allows it to store high quality movies. I think what your trying to say is HD quality displays on a cell phone. Like the others have said on a small screen its rather pointless to display HD material. The iPhone 4's screen is pretty close to HD, it displays 326 ppi. I believe for a screen to display HD images/video it needs a screen resolution of 1,280×720 pixels (720p) or 1,920×1,080 pixels (1080i/1080p). The smallest HD screen is 4.8" with a display that is able to display 458 ppi & its made by Casio and Toppan Printing.

There is an argument that the maximum quality the human eye can perceive is 477 ppi at 12 inches (305 mm), so HD on anything smaller than a decent sized tv is rather pointless.

How would a Blu-ray disc possibly fit inside a phone unless the discs themselves shrink CONSIDERABLY in size whilst still retaining their data capacities.

I think the original OP is getting confused with Blu-ray (the disc technology) at 1080P HD (the video technology and the resolution of a Blu-ray movie).

Yep which is why in my post immediately preceding yours I pointed this out...

I think he meant High Definition Video, at Blu Ray Resolutions, as the name refers to the storage medium and not the Video Files Themselves

See what happens when all you download are BRRIP's?

And in regards to watching a movie on a cellular handset, they have developed large screens for them, they are called Tablet and already support HD :)
