BMW had enough of SA's labour problems: analyst

Financial services group Nomura believes BMW's scrapping of expanded investment in the country shows it has had enough of labour issues.

"We hear of these things all the time from companies but they normally are not in the public eye and in the media because they are decisions made in quiet back rooms by management and not trumpeted," Nomura analyst Peter Attard Montalto said in a statement on Friday.

As predicted...
The union backed workers won't be - not unless they realize that BMW/Mercedes/Siemens etc can move their operations to Chile fairly easily. All of those companies are run by a board full of Germans. Picture your typical educated German...how much patience does the guy have for a toy-toying guy with a panga on a different continent that is losing him money & causing his peers to question his judgement? Yeah not much.

Yes you got your 100% salary increase....pity the plant owners decided "fck this sht" and moved to China/Chile/Mexico/whatever. Suddenly R0 income. Oh noes! Evil labour unions tricked me. :o
