Those who booed during the memorial service for former president Nelson Mandela on Tuesday did the country a disservice, said ANC spokesman Jackson Mthembu.

"Whatever the motivation for this behaviour, the behaviour still remains condemned," he said at the end of the memorial at the FNB Stadium in Soweto.

"Whoever was party to that did us, as a country, a disservice.

"It did the Madiba family, who are mourning, and...read more here: Booing at Mandela service did the country a disservice: ANC

For once I agree with the ANC, this wasn't the platform to make a statement. I can just imagine Barrack and other leaders on their plane laughing at how uncultured SA is.

agreed. but on the other side of the coin I can bet you the ANC wouldn't have taken this stance if it was Zille being booed

Hell they're even supported the booing off Zille. Yesterday was just a new level animalistic behaviour

I've not read everything or even seen the event, but based on the crowd attendance in a few photos I did see, the booing seemed to come from their supporters as well.

Not the best place to start something like this but surely they must realise people are not happy.

I tend to strongly disagree with this.

It might seems like a bad thing, but I think the ANC has pushed this nation way too far. This is one of the most dramatic outcries I have seen from the people in SA in a long time. The ANC is raping the land with their corruption and the people are starting to show their unhappiness.

Push people too far and eventually you're going to get what's coming to you. I think if Mandela knew what happened in the last few months while he was sick, and how they milked his death, he would be turning in his grave.

But It is still a memorial service, it's incredibly disrespectful to boo someone at a memorial service and shows no respect for the deceased person. I'm pretty certain you wouldn't like your funeral to be a mud slinging protest while your family and friends are trying to pay their respects.

Just shows you what the state of the nation is bru, you can't deny it. Think what you will, but people are getting gatvol and it is what it is.

I have to agree with you. Sorry to say but the state of this country is terrible. And what better way to show how people feel about it is in front of the world. Best way to protest something is when the world is watching.

Exactly my thoughts. We have to stop pretending that everything is OK. This is a testament to how bad it really is going in this country. People are getting murdered for small change, for political reasons, our economy is shot, our people are hungry and we're being extorted around every corner.

Stop living in ignorance and see this for what it really is- desperation of a nation.

Yip. Time for people to say this is not ok. Doesn't matter if it was a funeral things are so dire for the living. This country is a cess pool of hate, corruption, murder, rape. If I was leading a protest group I would of made a bigger scene than just booing zuma.

I never said things aren't bad and people aren't upset but there is a time and a place and this wasn't it. It was just a pathetic show they put on for the world, shows SA as uncultured and disrespectful not a nation upset or protesting a horrible president.

Aaaand that's the problem. SA is uncultured and disrespectful because we ARE uncultured because our people are living in SQUALOR. Instead of trying to ignore the facts, maybe look around and see that you cannot hide from the truth. This IS what it has become and will continue being like this until something is done about it.

Yip thank you I was about to say the same thing.

I agree with most of you here and yes it was a bad taste in the mouth that it happened on such a sad occasion but it was bound to happen sooner or later like you said this country is GATVOL of all the corruption and promises and nothing comes of it we just loose more and more and our money just gets taken more and more.

Maybe the rest of the country catches a wake up after that sourness
