Booth Babes...

Not out of context...

I am wondering how anyone can complain about booth girls... I mean, it's not sexist or derogatory, those girls aren't there chained down... they WANT to be seen as desirable... and that is happening...

The only people complaining would be gamers with low self esteem, too ashamed or afraid to speak to an actual woman.

So what's the issue?

I see what you are implying here, and no, there is no issue, just stating my opinion. There is the right place and the right time for everything and that's something you clearly missed from my post. I said I come to Rage to look at new technology and games , not at random women standing in spandex suites or bikini's or whatever, that have no ties or connection to the whole event ( or the theme of the booth). For me it just spoils the experience. In another instance, I go to an EFC Africa MMA event to see men beat each other silly, and there I don't mind (and enjoy ) half-naked hot women. It ties in with the whole 'typical stuff men like', fighting and hot girls. You see the connection?

WHY do they ruin the experience? You know you don't have to look if you really don't want to :P

Men like fighting, eh? What about women who like fighting? Are they rare? Perhaps, but the same applies to video games. Your analogy makes no real point at all.

The women don't detract from the experience. I really don't get what your beef is.

I don't think there would ever be a consensus on the subject. I don't mind the booth babes - or even cosplayers for that matter - they are there, doing a job, and I don't think they or the advertisers/gaming companies expressly puts them there to annoy or distract from the games themselves. I side with TBlaar, i also appreciate the female form, be it clothed or semi-clothed.

I think that we, as gamers, must be mature about games and the gaming culture. We don't even have games that contain sex, or nudity as we all know (except the Witcher and Mass Effect's romances). We grow up, but our games don't (only violence and cussing is fine). Does this maybe influence our views on the showing of flesh from scantily clad ladies at the Gears of War booth?

I think the real issue started because one of the big american gaming websites ran a feature rating the booth babes. Its not with actually having booth babes.
I thought that the rating thing was pretty low too.

This is not talked about in the video. Source?
