Borderlands - Motion Sickeness?

Hi,

Just bought Borderlands 1 & 2 from steam in special while ago.

Download and Install Borderlands and play it for first time.

Set it to high setting with 1920 x 1024.

Playing for half hour and feel dizzy and sick. Trying change the graphic setting, still same.

Apparently the reason the graphic stuttering on screen when moving the mouse.

Research and tried play it in Windowed Mode and it look fine. but will play later if I get motion sickness symptom again.

So Anyone experienced in Motion sickenss? how to prevent it?

It not my first time as it happen to me some games before like Dead Island (PS3), No One Live Forever, Duke Nukem 3D...

I got motion sickness playing the first Crysis game on the alien spaceship. I had to play for 15 minutes, stop and try again later. Luckily it's the only game where it has happened to me so far.

Work with the FOV (Field Of View) settings in these games. Sometimes when the FOV is too low, I get a headache. After setting it higher I almost instantly feel better.

Haven't played Borderlands 2 in some time, so not sure what settings can be turned on/off. If motion blur is an option, turn that off. As stated by DieGrootHammer, FOV being too low (narrow) can also have an effect, so turn that up. If motion sway is an option, turn that off as well.

That resolution, I've never seen that. Is it just a typo or you have a weird aspect ratio monitor? Running a game at non native resolution for your monitor can also cause nausea. I experienced it when I got my first LCD screen and was gaming at non native resolution. The image looks squashed or stretched.
Also have your monitor refresh rate set to the highest for your screen, which in most cases is 60Hz, but some screens can go higher.

I'm not sure if I understand the stuttering part correctly, if you mean low FPS or screen tearing. If it's screen tearing, turn on vsync and see if that helps.

I only get queezy when my FoV is low - especially when it's a fast-paced game. But typically, I don't suffer from motion sickness...while gaming.

Edit:

Borderlands 2 has many display options. It'd be wise to mix and match settings until you that that works best for you. Also, what size monitor are you using. I personally use a 32" LED monitor so things are pretty clear and close to me (about a metre from my chair), and I use an FoV between 90 and 100. But, like I say, play with settings until you find a combination that's comfortable.

I got similar when playing Borderlands 1 initially, as suggested crank up the FOV to at least 90 and turn off headbob (it moves the screen up and down to simulate movement).

You can get a custom config app to do this for you otherwise just google and edit the config files (for Borderlands 1)

I'm using 27" Philp LED Monitor.

I will tweak the setting from your advice like FOV

Psychofish - havent thought about Refresh rate. will look into it.

Blazzok, that one the graphic keep tearing when move the camera. I dont think there is VSYNC option on Borderland. Will google and see what I can to solve this problem.

Many Thank you are best! :)

I get motion sickness if the refresh rate is out of wack or all over the place. Used to get it a lot with Quake, Quake 2, UT and the like. I just end up trying to cap the refresh rate or enable vsync and it goes away for me...else I play wearing my glasses which I really dont enjoy doing.
