New Borderlands game announced
It’s set between Borderlands and Borderlands 2, which makes naming it quite difficult

I found 2 lacking in comparison to 1... I hope this actually improves on the series.
That statement makes no sense to me. 2 improved on 1 in every possible way. Better story, more (unique) guns, more grenade mods, more characters, more quests, more varied world, more claptrap, etc. It also introduced one of the coolest villains in gaming with Handsome Jack. I have played over 250 hours in total and I am nowhere near finished with the game.
I can understand if you didn't enjoy 2 as much as 1, different strokes and all that, but I don't get how you can say it was lacking in comparison.
That's off the top of my head. Once again, this is my opinion and I stand by my comment that BL2 lacks in comparison to BL1.
Quite easily really, I played both start to end with all DLC incl. so I can fairly make that statement. It's lacking quite a lot in certain qualities that I appreciated in BL1.
- I didn't have to farm for 20 days to get one of a set legendary items. They dropped as randomly as all other guns and added to the variety and fun in the Bagazillion gun concept.
- The above statement makes OP5 impossible without the corresponding legendary item, it's silly and almost intentionally cuts out the Single Player experience.
- Badass points are novel, but I found that weapon proficiency held more water and added a bigger sense of accomplishment and mostly focused builds.
- Abilities no longer have rune's to boost their functionality - wtf did they remove this anyway?
- The new classes are outclassed in comparison to the original 4, in my opinion. I expected a lot more from them to be frank. Especially going from a Soldier to a Commando.

Yeap. BL1 also had three skill tree's per character. Your facts are lacking and your opinion is very much based on what you enjoy experiencing in Borderlands. So I don't quite get why you argued the point with me.
But yes, as you say, to each his own.
I like Axton, but I feel Roland played a stronger support role than he does - that made me sad.
I didn't really argue anything with you. I merely said I cant't see how BL2 is lacking in comparison to BL1 and I stand by that. Of course my opinion is going to be based on what I enjoy. I do agree that Roland is a better support character but since I mostly (almost only) play singleplayer support characters aren't really of any use to me.
Makes sense, yeah I was a quite disappointed with Axton off the bat.
Roland can replenish ammo, grenades and health to anyone within the cast range of his turret. It also had a pretty impressive shield (not as good as Axton's Phalanx shield) but the best bit is you had a chance to insta-revive a team mate by just dropping the turret close to them. I could heal people with my bullets and I think if you had your team within the aura range of his turret you would boost health regen immensely with each enemy you kill.
He was a support tank and his turret and skills make Axton seem like a selfish character to play.
Axton lacks all kinds
Kind of dislike the graphics of this game. it looks too cartoon. If they can make it less cartoon, then i'm sold.
Yes, Roland is a great support character. We've already agreed on that. In BL2, however, that role goes to Maya and she can do almost everything you mentioned Roland can; shooting friends can heal them, phaselocking an enemy will also heal the player(s) and you can instantly revive a friend by phaselocking him/her. Granted she can't regenerate ammo, but you can upgrade your ammo capacity to such an extent with eridium that it really shouldn't be necessary.
Axton is more of a damage dealer and that's the way I like it.
I think I'll play again with Maya, that might actually have been my mistake from the start. You don't miss the weapon proficiency at all, would you say the badass points system is a better system?

Cautiously optimistic. Borderlands is one of my favourite series and number 2 sits firmly in my top 10 games list, but the addition of an oxygen mechanic seems unnecessary as a resource. I just want to shoot and loot not worry about air.
Also didn't 2k Australia downsize recently? I swear if they screw up the Borderlands franchise...
