Bound by Flame - the reviews are in

Yeah doesn't look very good and what the reviews are saying is telling of a game I wouldn't enjoy.

I'm also enjoying it so far, can't see what the reviewers are complaining about. It's not going to win GOTY, but it's a decent game. Combat is quite challenging and the crafting system seems pretty awesome. Voice acting ranges from terrible to ok, but it's not a deal breaker. It's similar to Mars War Logs and Of Orcs and Men as far as voice acting is concerned.

Doesn't look too good. I know Lycanthrope is enjoying it, though.

I am :)

Playing it every now and then between Elder Scrolls Online, but I enjoy it. If you played Mars: War Logs, then you'll know what to expect from a Spiders RPG. They're a bit clunky, the story can be a little all-over-the-place but I enjoy their games and many of the themes they bring up a lot.

What grates me about many of the reviews is that this is a game made by a small indie developer, with no (or at least very few) bugs and is a complete, full experience. Yet many of these same reviewers have reviewed half-finished games, with no prospects of ever being completed, significantly better.

I stopped caring about reviews a long, long time ago and I enjoy games as they are and not some disproportionate expectation I have of them.

I played about 8 hours of this yesterday and I don't see how someone can give this game 2/10 and call it "an embarrassment on all fronts". Yeah the story and dialogue are not going to win any literature awards, but I'm enjoying it a lot, especially the sarcastic protagonist and conversations with your companions. The knight that always refers to himself in third person is pretty damn cool and the undead mage is also not too bad.

If you go into this game expecting the next Dark Souls or Dragon Age you will be disappointed, but it is a decent budget RPG. Almost feels like a smaller Witcher to me, and that's a good thing IMO. I also stopped caring about reviews a long time ago, you won't ever really know how good/bad a game is until you've played it yourself and I am glad I took a chance on this game.

Slander! :D

LOL. The writing is not nearly as good as the Witcher games, but I still think it's a fair comparison. Vulcan might not be as badass as Geralt either, but so far I really like him. Want to do a second playthrough with a female character to see how the dialogue goes then.

Doesn't look good tbh & don't like 3rd person perspective. Would be nice if the 3 class system were integrated into something like skyrim though.
