Boycott Kingston & PNY

Yes thats an attention grabbing title. ;)

Both companies have been caught recently scoring good reviews on gear and then silently swopping out components for cheaper stuff (keeping model numbers etc). Thus what you read in the review and what you get is not the same.

So you might want to stay away from them...clearly not very ethical companies.

Pretty shady but its only with their ssd's. Other products are rock solid and you'll be shocked to know how many other companies are guilty of this especially when it comes to power supplies.

I never use Kingston or Pny ssd's an anyway, only recommend the best: Intel, Samsung, Crucial and Corsair.

Perhaps...though I don't have much faith in "occasionally" unethical. You're right about your next point though so perhaps I'm setting the bar too high.

Yeah - had Kingston RAM serve me well for many years (got Value range sticks that did wicked timings). Still...given two roughly equal products I'll skip Kingston going forward.

Would probably go for an Intel SSD next (despite price) though someone elsewhere mentioned an interesting factoid: Crucial (apparently) owns Micron and thus has no incentive to apply such tactics.
