BT Games stands by BioShock competition winner

It's pretty easy to see that the winner's artwork is not simply hacked together in photoshop. The lines are completely different, it's pretty obvious if you compare the outlines. Easily visible on the hair of Booker and Elizabeth as well as the neck detail of Songbird. The person who's complaining is just butthurt.
 
As someone who did not participate in the competition (already own B:I and thought it was complete bollocks) and therefore am immune to being called jealous and/or butthurt, I'll say I agree with the complainants sentiment. Even if that artwork is not the exact same art with filters applied, that artwork cannot be considered original because it was not the artist's own idea. He merely took existing art and reproduced it.

If I reproduce the Mona Lisa on my own, even if it looks slightly different, it can still not be considered original artwork. Originality implies a lot more than just the absence of ctrl-c, ctrl-v.
 
The winning artwork is just a exact redraw of artwork all ready created. I could be mistaken, but creativity is zero here. (Which was the point of the competition, ORIGINAL artwork designed in its entirety by the entrant)

Only original [/B]work (must be drawn or designed in its entirety by the entrant – 3rd party material may not be used at all) will be considered – any non-original work will result in your entry being disqualified.

The way i see it, you cannot redraw artwork and put them all together on one artwork then claim it as your own original work/design.
 
I agree that this is just a redraw. The guy won but sheesh I think he should be ashamed for calling himself a professional artist.
 
What a fraud ........ BT Games and this shitty winner should be ashamed. Also, to those defending it and not seeing that it's not original work, get your eyes checked coz at the moment they're fucked ;)
 
The winning drawing is just some rudimentary image manipulation and a hack comp job. The second place entry is far more deserving.

I can't say I'm surprised though considering the shitty business practices of BT Games.

Then whip out your photoshop and do better? People just don't appreciate details anymore...
 
You don't need to be able to do a better picture to be able to point out that that is not original artwork. Regardless of how good his art actually is, it's not entirely his because it's based on someone else's art.

Dude... eye check. The girl and the guy in the picture are two very different levels. You can easily see the hair on the girl looks more rough and defined as if "put on" than the guy in the picture. Her face is more "pornified/smoothfied" wtf you want to call it VS the guy's face as if two different people were drawing them... just look a the structure. With my skill I would probably have drawn a flat girly face like that one.

The guy and the girl just seem so different as to each other. The elements that makes up the picture as a whole I would say have tell tale signs of not being drawn coherently.

Even I can tell this having spent a lot of time with digital painters, one being my SO and they probably would tell you the same thing...
